Day 21 and Counting!

Good Morning! I'm finally here. My bed was so warm and cozy this morning that it was hard to get up out of it. I think that fall has arrived! It's finally crisp and cold in the mornings now.
Kevin and I worked at the Atlanta Motor Speedway last night. As long as my husband has been a die hard Nascar fan (17 years), we have never been to a Nascar track! So, it was exciting to see the track and watch the last 5 minutes of qualifying. However, we spent almost all of the 9 hours that we were there in the parking lot waving a bright orange flag. Oh, well.
I can't believe there are only 11 days left in my countdown! WOW! And today, I have a pretty girlie card to add to the pile of cards that one of you sweet commenters are going to win!
I started out with the sketch and a quote on my desk. Then I remembered the paper from the same company that matches my quote! That was when this card came together in a snap! Once again, there was no stamping on the card. Yikes.

I started my card with a quote because of Creativity Unbound's Spotlight on Sentiments Challenge. I love a challenge. I hope my card qualifies!
Card Recipe:
Stamps~ none
Ink~ no
Paper~ Pixie Pink, green (?), DP (quote too) by K&I Memories (Summer)
Accessories~ Hodgepodge hardware (SU), Flowers (some primas), ribbon by May Arts and Mike's, brads (?)
And here is the sketch that started it.

Katie made this sketch for me. I have had a few people ask how to take their drawings and make them a sketch on their computer that's more viewer friendly. Katie uses "Paint"- a basic program that came with our computer. Most everyone has "Paint", right? Ours is located under Accessories in All Programs. The Paint program wasn't as easy for me to use as my favorite graphic and print program of all time "Print Artist". By using basic shapes and lines, this program made making sketches a snap. I think most any program like this can help you make a sketch. But, I would like to hear from some of you who have created your own sketches.... how do you make them on your computer? Comment here on this post. If you give us a tip, I will add your name an extra time into the drawing for the cards!
NOW.... what are we adding to the overflowing basket of loot? We have 11 days left, so I thought 11 yards (or more) of ribbon might be fun to add. I've got lots of Stampin Up grosgrain and stitched ribbon and some narrow organdy as well as a few spools of this and that. I think you'll be pleased!

Again... if you don't have a clue what's going on, check out this post.
Otherwise, comment for the cards or get going on your sketches and/or cards. Don't forget to leave a comment on the day giving me a link back to it!
HAVE FUN!

I'm the first one to post a comment. I never thought that would happen. I'm up earlier than normal as I'm hostin an afternoon of card making for some friends. I hope to try out some of your awesome sketches.

Regarding making cards without stamps - AWESOME!!! I enjoy scrapbooking as well and have tons of embellishments, stickers, die cuts, etc. I think it's great to find ways to use ALL our supplies even if ink and rubber aren't involved. Thanks for the great idea!

Okay, I took too long typing and missed out on being the first comment. Ms. Texans is also up early today (BTW I love her blog as well). One of these days I'll start a craft blog in addition to my current life events.

Cathy, we must have been typing at the same time!
Here is my card for today's sketch. I ended up doing it standard size... somehow I missed that it was a 6x3 card! (Pregnancy moment!!!) I still hope it works!!!

I love quotes and this is one I'll add to my arsenal. It's a great card to go along with it and it doesn't overpower the sentiment.

I've used several "Paint-type" programs, mostly for things other than making sketches for cards. I like Paint, but usually use good old MS Word. It's got a drawing feature and has all sorts of shapes. (To make the Drawing toolbar visible, just click on View, Toolbars, Drawing, in case anyone's wondering.) I had to use it at work so I'm familiar and comfortable with it. I'm sure they all have a learning curve. I haven't heard of the one you use, but will check into it. I'm also a computer program junkie, so like to see what's out there and what's easy to use. Thanks for posting the question. I'll look forward to more responses from people.

Last night was the first time I got my sketches from my notebook to the computer. I used Paint, and found it to work OK. Then my DH came in and said "Why don't you just use Powerpoint??" I was done by that time so haven't tried it yet. I guess Publisher would also work. I use Publisher to make brochures and flyers at work and it has lots of shapes and shading features.

Oh my ribbon. drool. :p I get so weak when I see ribbon. It my very favorite scrapbooking supply.

I hardly ever make my own card sketches and when I do I draw them out on a piece of paper by hand.
