Divine Design- October

I am never short on Bible verses to use for Divine Design! And my verse usually pertains to what God is doing in my life and what He is working on with me! This month is no exception.

Therefore as God's chosen people, clothe yourselves with Compassion, Kindness, Humility, Gentleness and Patience.
~Colossians 3.12
I think that about says it all! I am a work in progress, let me tell you!

September Divine Design

What a cool date for Divine Design!
I'm a little late today, but maybe I can get a pardon since I actually made 2 projects instead of one.

You see, back in July I bought my best friend one of those pretty new collage style picture frames for her birthday. And I gave her a promise that 2 of the openings would eventually have some handstamped artwork. Well, here it is September and I figured I'd better get that project finished! I hope to get these in the mail tomorrow.
Maybe she'll get them before she has a chance to check my blog.

These panels measure 4x6. The verses are stamps from my favorite Our Daily Bread Designs anniversary collection. They aren't too elaborate because I wanted to make sure they weren't too bulky so they would fit under the glass. The colors were chosen to match my friend's decor. (They were a little difficult to photograph and are actually the same colors even though after editing my pictures are not.)
I hope you've had a change to participate in our monthly Bible Verse challenge. We've been at it for a while now. But, even if you've never played along before- it's not to late to start.
We would love to have you join in. The only criteria is that your project features a scripture. Perhaps it would be a verse that's touched you as you sat in church or maybe one that hit you like a ton of bricks during your quiet time or one that you've decided to commit to memory. The hard part is choosing which scripture. There are SO many good ones to chose from.
Then you'll make your Bible verse into a project that can be as simple as a bookmark or as complex as you want it to be! Should you wish to post your work on Splitcoast, please use keyword BVC09 so it can be grouped with other Divine Design projects.

Divine Design- August

The 9th of the month fell on a Sunday this month so we've moved Divine Design to today for those of us who are able to.
I am so very fond of my fellow Scripture Chicks- Jami of Stamp Happy, Lori of Make a Difference, Taylor of Taylored Expressions, and Nancy of Paper Smiles. This is an amazing group of women and it has been an honor and privilege to work with them. No, I am not going anywhere. Divine Design is one of those projects I hope I'll be able to keep doing as long as I am paper crafting. It has a great significance as it brings together 2 of my passions. But, being a wife and mom is a passion too. And THAT is and will always be a priority. And I know it is for my fellow scripture chicks.
We wear so many hats as women, don't we?
Cook, maid, chauffeur, nurse, teacher... the list could go on. When I stop to think about it, I wonder where we find the time to paper craft!
That brings me to my project for today.
I was sitting in church yesterday and listening intently for God to give me a scripture to base my page on. The sermon was on the leper that Jesus healed, but the preacher also touched on Matthew 6:33.
"Seek first God's kingdom and what God wants.
Then all of your other needs will be met as well."
It was perfect! It's all about priorities, right? I don't know about you, but too often I do NOT get my priorities straight. Meditating on this verse will certainly help me to prioritize!
That will mean that quiet time and prayer will go to the top of my "to-do" list and paper crafting may have to go on the back burner at times. (And you'll see from my irregular summer posting- it does.) But I won't feel too guilty about that.
There was one more thing I incorporated into my project from yesterday's sermon. It was from a story about a woman and her daughter who felt God's love each time they would see a red bird. It was a bond they shared. The mother was eventually diagnosed with leukemia and as she lived the last hour of her life surrounded by her daughter and other family members, a red bird sat perched on her windowsill. It was a story that touched me and I knew my page just had to include a red bird!

My project was as simple as they get, but I'm happy to put it in my book.

Divine Design- July

Due to demanding schedules, the Scripture Chicks are a little late this month. So much so, we decided to just postpone the Bible Verse Challenge exactly one week. I hope you'll consider joining me and scripture chicks Lori Craig, Jami Bova, Nancy Morgan and Taylor VanBruggen. It's very straightforward and the "rules" are few. Just choose a scripture that has impacted you...perhaps one you wish to memorize... and make a project with it. My projects are 6x6 pages which have already filled one little album. Luckily it's a set of 3. I love looking through the album and meditating on these verses.

I had planned on using a completely different Bible passage, but when I ran across this verse in my reading, it just jumped out at me. "Keep on Praying!" Wow! Translated, I think that means "Don't ever stop! Keep talking to God." I have to admit, my prayer time can too often be rushed and even sometimes non-existent. This scripture is a powerful reminder and something God is definitely trying to remind me of. Hmmm....if memory serves me right, my last month's Divine Design scripture was pertaining to prayer. NOT a coincidence, I am sure.

Divine Design- June

It is time for our monthly Bible Verse Challenge and I am SO Sorry I am late posting!

Things are just about back to normal here in our house. Our youngest has now graduated from high school, all of our house guests are back at their homes and wouldn't you know it... I woke up sick today. I'm just glad I wasn't sick last week!
I know most of my fellow scripture chicks have already posted their projects... Lori Craig, Jami Bova, Nancy Morgan and Taylor VanBruggen's will be a bit on the late side as she's busy getting ready to move to Iowa!
My project is a great reminder for me as I place it in my treasured book of scriptures! Too often I forget to pray and ask God for the things I need. But, prayer and seeking a relationship with my God is exactly what this verse is all about.

"Ask and it will be given to you;
Seek and you will find;
Knock and the door will be opened to you."
~Matthew 7:7
The scripture comes from a new Our Daily Bread Designs set called "Ask, Seek, Knock" and it definitely needed to be on a page of my book!
Here is a close-up of that keyhole which is actually a brad that is on an oval punch out and popped up in the corner of the page. The cardstock I used is from Core'dinations Chocolate Box line- one side is Chocolate brown and the other olive green. I LOVE this cardstock!
I wish you could tell better in the picture, but there is lots of paper piercing done here as well.

Today is a wonderful day! My son and his wife will graduate from Bible College today. God is good and I can certainly look back over the last 24 years of my son Jake's life and see how this verse is so perfect and so true.
This amazing scripture was chosen by my friend Amy for the special Our Daily Bread Designs anniversary sets. You can bet that several of those verses will be making their way into my Divine Design book of scriptures!
If you are a Christian, this verse is full of promise and encouragement. You can know that God will work it out- taking both the good and the bad in your life and making them something wonderful. He can take every situation and turn it into one that works for our good and for His glory.

April Divine Design

As soon as I saw this 1 Corinthians 13 passage that Our Daily Bread Designs released this month, I knew that it would have to be a page in my Scripture Treasures book.

I've been adding pages to this book since January of last year when my sweet friend, Lori Craig launched
Divine Design.

Divine Design for March

It's time for Divine Design! This venture was started by my sweet friend Lori over a year ago. The concept was simple and we've kept it that way. Chose a scripture that has touched you and make it into a card or other project. I started making these 6x6 scrapbook pages and am filling some cute little 6x6 albums. It's such a joy to go back and look at the album and remember the times where a particular Bible verse inspired and strengthened me.
That brings me to my verse for this month.

"The Lord is faithful; and HE will strengthen and protect you."
~2 Thessalonians 3:3

He is SO faithful. Through every trial and every temptation, HE is faithful. There are several places in the Bible where He reminds us of that. I think it's because we need the reminder, don't you?My project is SO simple this month. Mainly out of necessity as I've got some major deadlines looming. In fact, I didn't even stamp! But, you know what? That's okay!
The verse is diecut from a 12x12 sheet of scriptures and quotes. The bow was a trick I learned from my friend, Jami! And there is a reason I chose this rose paper. I've been working on a project with Katie's teacher and roses are part of the theme. My dear sweet hubby had a memory of a designer paper with roses. He was so obsessed with the memory that he searched high and low through my stamp room trying to find this sheet of paper he was remembering. We finally came across this sheet of rose paper. He was thinking it was pink, but admits this may be it. It won't work for the other project, but it fit right into my color scheme here. And I will always look at this page and remember my hubby's search! LOL

February Divine Design

It's the 9th of the month and you know what that means!
Divine Design!
Because February is the month of LOVE, I wanted my page to be about LOVE! I didn't have to look far to find my verse either. I received a beautiful calendar in the mail for Christmas and each month includes a wonderful scripture. This month had 1 John 4:7 poetically written in the King James version. I knew right away that it would be my BVC09 verse! Thank you, Linda!
I typeset the scripture in PhotoShop first, but it just wouldn't print right... so off to my reliable Word program I went.
I dug and dug through my designer paper stash looking for a red background paper. I came across this black and pink polka dotted piece and it just struck my fancy. I had a cool ribbon buckle I was set on using, but then I ran across this LOVE rub-on and ended up going in yet another direction. Funny how things go like that, huh?
Here is where I ended up after all my twists and turns! {I was very much inspired by Amy with my swirls and flowers. I've been swooning over her creations recently!}

Divine Design- January 2009

It was a little over a year ago that my dear friend Lori Craig asked me if I would be interested in participating in a monthly scripture design challenge. Along with Lori and 3 other sweet gals, I posted one project a month in 2008- each made with a Bible verse that touched my heart. It is with great excitement that I am continuing the Divine Design project this year. In fact, Lori has asked Nancy Morgan and myself to co-host the endeavor for 2009 and we were only too happy to oblige!

What a great start this new Our Daily Bread Designs scripture gave me! And I *heart* the Stampin Up Top Note die! I love everything I've ever seen made with it. Not having a lot of time to make something, I instantly reached for this die! It's SO cool!

December Divine Design

Is it really December and time for the final Divine Design of the year? Yes, but fret not, cuz an idea this fabulous should continue through another year. Don't you think? I love the way my book is getting full of wonderful scriptures. And I love the way my scripture stamp collection is growing with the ODBD stamp sets I've been blessed to own. This verse comes from "Lord is my Shepherd". I've not used the focal image on my page here, only one of the FIVE verses included. And I've used an Ornare Piercing Template (Kelley carries these at the ODBD store) allowing my design to have character without a lot of layers.

I am loving Becca's medallion! (The tutorial is so easy!) I had a couple made in 2 different sizes and sat them down together and loved the effect. Adding some pearls a sweet friend sent was the perfect touch!

Psalm 23 is now available at Our Daily Bread Designs.
Who wouldn't want this Psalm as part of their scripture collection?

I knew as soon as I saw this 23rd Psalm in stamp form that it would be a page in my Divine Design book. I couldn't wait until December to show it to you though. I have many more scriptures to put in the book so I'd better start showing you more than one a month anyway, right?
My book is getting very thick due to the amount of embellishments I tend to use. So this page was purposefully on the thinner side. I did add dimensionals under the main panel to give it some prominence!

November Divine Design

Sorry I'm a little late this month. We've had a busy weekend.
Here is my scripture this month.

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
James 1:5

This verse came up in my Bible study and hit me like a brick! Has that ever happened to you? It's back to prayer. Asking God for the answer rather than relying on my own devices. I knew this verse would have to go into my book.
I found the sketch for this page on SCS. It's SCS 190. The medallion was made using this tutorial of my friend and fellow DT member, Becca of Amazing Paper Grace. It was quite simple.
Looking for corner punches, I was so sad to see I had gotten rid of a couple of my Corner Adorners thinking I wouldn't use them again. I would have loved to have tried them with this technique. Oh well.
I'm going to try making several pages for my book this month. I keeping finding more and more verses to go into it. I don't think it will ever be a problem finding scriptures!

October Divine Design

It's that time again.
Time for Divine Design!

Psalm 138:3 says
"When I pray you answer me; You encourage me by giving me the strength I need."

I chose this scripture several days ago. Little did I know how timely it would be. How much I would need the strength only God can give. Oh, but HE knew. He knew. And He told me to pray.
So, my post today will be short. I plan on spending the rest of the afternoon outside with the birds. Praying.

September Divine Design

I have been drooling over Kim Hughe's "Silhouettes" line of stamps at CHF. I've been wanting them for so long. Every single card I have seen made with these stamps has been just beautiful. It's definitely one of those "You can't go wrong" sets! I broke down and ordered Nature's Silhouettes and Silhouette Blooms 1 last weekend when CHF doubled their Club points. I am SO happy I did!
I used only 2 stamps from Nature's Silhouettes on my Divine Design project. The leafed stem I inked up in Celery Craft ink and kissed it to an Antique Cracking background stamp. Isn't "kissing" fun?

The verse I chose for my project was one that really spoke to me this week in my Bible study.

"For God has not given us
a spirit of fear and timidity,
but of power love and self-control."
~2 Timothy 1:7

Okay.... God gave me self-control? I sure should be using it!

A Tardy Divine Design

It's Divine Design time!
I am only 24+ hours late with my design. Not bad considering I lost 4 days along the way. LOL
You'll have to excuse my lighting. I just couldn't get enough light here in our room.

I am really having a great time being a part of the Our Daily Bread design team. I now have so many amazing scriptures in rubber! I chose this Romans verse because it is just the reminder I needed at this point of my journey! It comes from a new set "Hope" to be released on the 15th of the month. You'll surely see more from me with this set!
AND you know I just had to play with my Scor-Pal which ODBD will soon be carrying. I love the little touch those 2 scored lines added!

Flood Relief

Just a quick note from me with some stamping!

No, I've not been feeling like stamping so I am showing you a design I haven't shown

you yet. This was another page I did for the Flood Relief "Not a Raffle". I think yesterday closed the raffle. Tomorrow the winners will be announced! I hope whoever gets this book of scriptures from the Divine Design girls will be blessed!
On a personal note, I am feeling a bit better today. We were able to look at a couple of houses for rent and may have even found "the" one. We hope to look a little bit more tomorrow.

Stamping for the Midwest!

I hope you didn't miss THIS announcement on Splitocast! The amazing online community of stampers and scrappers are once again putting other's interests at heart and this time the recipients of their goodwill are the Midwest families who have been devastated by the recent flooding. You probably know, I am a midwest girl myself. I was born in Nebraska and grew up in Iowa and now consider Kansas home. That's pretty midwest, don't you think?
So, when Lori suggested that the Scripture Chicks contribute a little something, I so hoped I could join them. And I did. I was able to provide three pages for the book of scriptures that Lori bound together. Mine were all made using my limited supplies and my Our Daily Bread stamps as my printer was already gone at that point. I can't wait to see what the other girls made {Taylor, Lori, Nancy, Jami}
I know they must be beautiful! The cover (made by Lori Craig) is absolutely gorgeous! Check it out!Here is one of my pages.

Splitcoast is calling it a non-raffle! Too funny. I hope you'll check out the gallery that shows all of the donated items for the relief effort!

July Divine Design

It was back in December that my sweet friend Lori came up with the idea of a core team of ladies who would challenge the blogging/stamping world each month to design a creation that would include a Bible verse that has personally touched us. What an awesome idea and it really took off! Each month I see many projects from those of you who join us in this challenge and I am so inspired by the choice of scriptures!!! God must be smiling to see His word spreading via the computer where so much of what's on these machine surely doesn't make Him happy!
My design this month? Having no printer at home, I was SO excited to see that one of the new sets premiering this month from Our Daily Bread Designs included this awesome scripture- a scripture that reminds me to focus on what or more specifically WHO is important!

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus- the author and perfecter of our faith, who
for the joy set before Him endured the cross." ~Hebrews 12:2a
