Day 4

It's Day 4!
Time is a flyin!
And my teapot is whistlin'. So just a quick post before I get my day actually started!
Today's challenge is
CHRISTMAS!
Anything Christmas works for me. A Christmas card, tag, box, scrapbook page, etc! Just make sure it's Christmas and that it's a new project you've made for this challenge! (Don't link to something you posted last month!)
(Keyword RDOA)
All projects made with this challenge get an entry into the ever growing basket of RAINBOW colored goods.
The other way to be entered? Answer my question of the day, silly!
All of the rules as you may remember are included on
THIS post.
Remember to identify yourself with a last name or email address.
See you in a flash!

My favorite way to be green is to recycle 'trash' into crafts! I use colorful packaging and junk mail for cards (some of them look like designer paper with the beautiful patterns), empty candle & band aid tins can be covered and repurposed. I always take a double take at my garbage to see what could be useful to express my creativity!

I missed yesterday's challenge - will have to get that done tonight, along with today's! As far as being greener, we are heavy recyclers, I try to buy local foods, and we compost for our garden. Our family of 3 usually has only 1 bag of trash per week. Even our 5 yo son has gotten into the habit of turning off lights when he leaves a room (no matter if you're still in it - LOL).

We've changed out our light bulbs but are beginning to wonder if that was the right move. We also put 'low flow' fixtures on water places and put in low water landscaping.

I have been recycling more and more. Things I used to just throw out I have been rinsing and putting in the recycle bin. We also have switched to the flourecent bulbs. And I'm constantly turing down the thermostat.

Ever since our city started picking up the recycling bin at the curb, our family recycles everything plastic, glass, & paper. I even save all the paper at the office and take it home to put in the church dumpster along with the paper from home so the church can earn a donation.

I am trying to reuse as much as possible- and I recycle at school (where I have the means to do it)

We recycle everything.. easy since it's required here! We also turn down the thermostat, use low pressure shower thingys, I used "green" cleaners (vinegar and water) and re-usable grocery bags at the stores. We try! We also take things we don't use anymore to Goodwill instead of throwing them away.
Here's my first Christmas Card of the year! I'm so excited to try out more!!

We have changed the light bulbs, and I have stopped letting the car idle when I am waiting to get into the office in the mornings and at lunch time. Take care.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle is what I have been doing. I've been doing what many of your other posters have said plus I just started taking my own shopping bag into the store.

We recycle plastic, paper, glass, cans, & cardboard and actually have minimal garbage. I return the plastic bags to the stores that take them and try to use recycle bags for shopping when I can. I also ride my bike for quick errands like getting my mail at the post office, dropping off bills, etc. The bonus is that I get great exercise too.

Does reusing flyers, kleenex boxes and paper towel tubes for crafts count? OK, we do recycle and have replaced our older furnace with a more energy efficient model.

Hi Angel! We're doing our best to help planet Earth stay green by recycling cardboard, newspaper, paper, aluminum, plastics, and glass - both here and at work. We've switched from incandescent to fluorescent bulbs in our house too, and I've started using every other fluorescent light at work rather than turn them all on.

I do lots of things... most automatically anymore. I try to limit my water use (comes from years of living in the desert), recycle everything I can find a way to recycle, never throw trash around, and try to turn off anything that uses electricity when it is not being used.

I keep cute packages and paper from everyday things (mint boxes, mags) to re-use in altered crafts!

My fiance and I actually do a fair bit to try to be green including: recycling paper, cardboard, cans etc; using all energy efficient lights, putting a flow restrictor on our shower head, and going by the old saying "if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down" (that's gross to some but it saves a LOT of water)!

here's my quick and cute Christmas gift (although it took forever to wrap the paper right so I guess it wasn't really cute)

i take my left over coffee and give it to my inside plants once a week- it keeps the leaves green and gives them extra nutrients. and the Coffee grounds I place around my outside plants.. it does the same thing, but also enriches the soil and protects the roots during the winter!

A retired Home economics teacher, I truly practice what I preached to alter and recycle whenever possible. I even saved 5 lb flour and sugar bags and used them as gift favor carrier bags for my DIL's baby shower last year! I purhased a special can opener for the flip top cans, so that I will be able to repurpose them as gift containers. A friend of mine saves the International coffee flavor cans and I now have 2 boxes full ... they will be made into something to give at my church women's December meeting! When we go to the Farmer's produce market. we have fabric bags for our purchases. We reuse our plastic bags as garbage liners. I could go on and on, you got be started on a roll! ^o^ CM2

We try to conserve our energy-turn lights/water off when not using it, I try to recycle, but we don't really have the room in this tiny house, and I use reusable shopping bags!

I haven't made a card yet, but I'm hoping to tomorrow!

I've recently started saving plastic bottles and caps. My daughter takes them to work. She works at an Aveda Salon and all of their products are in bottles made out of recycled plastic

We do several things in our household to help our planet. We recycle all #1 & 2 plastics, cans, and papers. We also use the energy efficient light bulbs. We also keep our heat lower in winter and air higher in summer. I also keep junk mail envelopes with cool patterns to use on cards. Thanks for all the fun questions.

There's so much cool new Christmas stuff out there that I love. I used a new Martha Stewart stamp for this challenge: http://images.splitcoaststampers.com/data/gallery/500/tis_the_season_martha_tree_by_GlueGirl.jpg

We recycle/reuse everything we can and have a compost bin out back. The first year we couldn't believe how much bio waste we had...it sure helped us to cut back!

I keep all my scraps and use them for cards! I like keeping packaging as well and using it on cards.

As a family we recycle our bottles, pop cans and cardboard.

We switched from buying water bottles to using a filtered water jug. No more bottles to recycle!!
