When we lived in Wichita I would meet a friend for prayer on a regular basis. She and I would usually have a scone and some Chai tea. As soon as I saw this Scone Mix I knew I had to package it up as a gift for her. The homemade mix is inside the tin and the printed directions are inside the tag/gift card. It was an easy gift, but I think she'll like it!
Here are the mix ingredients:
1 & 3/4 C all-purpose flour
1 T baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 C quick cooking oats, uncooked
1/2 c chopped walnuts
1/3 c mini semi-sweet choc chips or 1/2 C sweetened, dried cranberries (I included a small ziplock of each so she can have her choice)
Combine first 3 ingredients together in large mixing bowl; stir in remaining ingredients. mix well. Attach instructions.
Instructions inside tag read:
Ingredients Needed:
Scone Mix, Choc Chips OR Cranberries (included),
1/2 Cup Softened Butter,
1/4 Cup Milk and 1 egg
Directions:
Place scone mixture in a large mixing bowl; cut in 1/2 cup butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg; add to crumb mixture just until moistened; fold in either chips or cranberries gently.
knead gently on a lightly floured surface 8-10 times; pat dough into an 8-inch circle. Cut into 8 wedges; place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees until golden, about 10-12 minutes. Serve warm. Makes 8.
Blessings~
