Our oldest son Jake and his new bride Megan along with our younger son Brian flew into Atlanta where I picked them up from the airport last Thursday. We played games and ate Taco Soup and talked and enjoyed each other's company. Jacob managed to get us hooked on a new TV show. He brought season one of "Jericho" with him. It's a great show and we got started watching it right away.
Friday and Saturday had us doing some last minute Christmas shopping. We also did some eating, watched Jericho and played games. Sunday we all went to church and then came home, watched Jericho and played some more games. (I wrapped ALL of my presents between Sunday and Monday. I will never leave it all for the last couple of days again!) I was wrapping away and came into the living room to find EVERYONE in the house was asleep! Here is a pic of the girls.
Monday we made cookies and candy, watched football and played games.
On Christmas eve, we donned our new Christmas jammies and then opened our presents from Grandma and Grandpa Johnson as it is our tradition. Here is Megan with hers!
Tuesday was Christmas and we all got up early and opened presents while the cinnamon rolls were baking. The kids spent most of the rest of that day downloading to their new MP3 players. But we found time for... you guessed it... Jericho AND games! Our Christmas dinner was fabulous. Kevin smoked a big juicy beef brisket on the grill. Thank God for good ol' Georgia warm weather! I made baked potatoes, corn and beer bread to go with it. It was so, so good. I am glad that we decided to get away from the traditional ham or turkey.
Kevin had to go back to work on Wednesday. So the kids and I got up early to make our returns and check out the after Christmas sales. Of course Wednesday had us up early to drive back to Atlanta. I never know if it will take 1 and 1/2 or up to 3 hours to get to the airport. This day was the quicker drive. It was very sad leaving the kids there. They are back in Kansas now though. I'll see them again this summer most likely.
Some of my favorite presents:
1. FAMILY! My kids were here and that was really ALL that mattered!

3. A photo calendar. Handmade by Megan on Snapfish, it features all of their beautiful wedding pics. It's fabulous!
4. MCC Mom t-shirt. I have 3 kids at this college and I AM a Manhattan mom for sure! I'll wear this shirt proudly!
5. A Laptop! Totally unexpected, but an amazing present I will get much use out of!

I'm so happy to hear you had such a wonderful time with your family, Angel!! Thank you for sharing your awesome pictures too!!
sounds like you had a great time! I love it when family gets together. I told my DH that he is spoiled. All of his family lives at the furtherest, 30 minutes away. Mine are all at least a couple hours away!
Happy Holidays!
Hi there, just browsing around blogs (I saw your link on Webbmania's blog) and was reading through your posts. I went to MCC and noticed that your kids do too. I went more than 9 years ago, but it's still close to my heart. Anyway, you look like you have a great family and I love your blog. Happy New Year!

Oh man...could the visit be over so soon!? You have a beautiful, special family. I know you had a fabulous time, and unfortunately, I know that exact feeling of putting your family back on a plane to Kansas from Hartsfield Intl Airport. It's tough...It was fun to spy a WSU shirt in your photos. Go SHOCKERS! {{{{Angel}}}} We must talk soon! Love you, friend.
MCC?? AS in Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan, KS?? If so, it is a small world!! I was blessed to go there for one year as a single mom. I loved it!! Wish I could've finished my degree there, but that wasn't the way it was meant to be. Glad to hear you had such a wonderful Christ ~ mas!!
