I needed some simple cards. This one is about as simple as it can get. But I loved it. Adding the stickles to the "berries" added just the needed touch along with the strip of DP. I love the size. It's 4.25" square.
This is the last of my cards from last year.
I will try to post more after the holidays.

Snowflake in Pacific Point

I will use this "sketch" again and again!

Change out the snowflakes for flowers and what an easy thinking of you or ANY occasion card!

A birthday cake, balloons or candle and you've got a "clean and simple" birthday card!

Last year, I made several sets of layered snowflake embellishments which I hoped to sell at a craft fair, but sadly (or not) did not sell. SO, I came up with this easy Christmas card and used up many of them! I recommend Nina Solar White cardstock from Cutcardstock.com. It is sturdy enough for a card base whereas SU white is perfect for layering and not so much for a base!

2010 Christmas Favorite

This was definitely my favorite card from last year's Christmas. I ordered the baker's twine from Crate and Barrell. I've used a bunch and still have enough left to last me years and years!! This one wasn't as simple, but it was fun!

Last Year's Christmas Cards

I started making this year's Christmas cards today. Yes, I know there are only 2 more weeks until Christmas.

I have 50 cards halfway done. I hope to finish them tomorrow. Wish me luck.

In the meantime, I never did post last year's cards.
I try to always make my Christmas cards CAS (clean and simple) and easy to reproduce. Why? Because I always start them too late to do anything else.

And my back likes it that way.
I usually make about 20 or so of one design and move onto another design so I am not too bored. I usually end up making over 100 cards.
This card design which I came up with last year was a scrap busting project.

I LOVE using scraps.
And no two were alike.

So, I didn't get bored making these.

I have a few more cards, so I guess I will be blogging this week.

Ha...who would have thought?

If you are reading this, I hope you are more prepared than I am and that you are remembering the reason for the season.

Blingin' It!

Most of my time the last couple of weeks has been spent trying to find a job and of course trying to spend as much time as I can with my handsome little grand before I have to go to work.

You don't blame me, right?
BUT,

I made a card this week!

Aren't I crafty?

It's a Clean and Simple design- my favorite kind.
I grabbed Kraft cardstock at first, but wanted something a little softer for this card, so I went with Sahara Sand instead. That's a color I don't use that often, but I do like it.
Most of the DP is scraps, but you can tell that flowery piece is a Prima design. Hobby Lobby has a ton of new 6x6 pads and when paper goes 50% off, they are too inexpensive to pass up! I just layered my DP, sponging the edges with Sahara Sand ink to give it uniformity (is that a word?) and then to add interest and dimension I added a strip of cardstock over a strip of curly edged ribbon. Added my Bling and my sentiment and this card was finished.

The card was made as a sample for one of the Hope You Can Cling To challenges at SplitcoastStampers this weekend- to use bling! You can find more information about this month long event here.

TOPS Boxes Take 2

I swear I made 12 boxes, but I only have pics of 11. Oh well! Here are the rest for your viewing pleasure. I used Mod Podge to glue on the papers and Scotch Quick Dry Adhesive for all of the embellishments.

This first box was one that I tried making more masculine. I noticed a woman got it anyway. Oh well.

TOPS Boxes

Last Saturday my local TOPS group held a "Fun Day" where all of the area TOPS groups were invited. The theme was "TOPS at the County Fair". We had carnival type prizes and decorated the room with County Fair decorations. We served each guest lunch in shoe boxes we had decorated. It all turned out wonderfully. I ended up decorating 12 boxes for the event. I had a lot of fun with my new Cricut and some recently purchased cartridges I found on Clearance at my WalMart for a Fabulous price (can you say as low as $5?). Coincidentally I had purchased the "Carnival" cartridge and it was perfect for the boxes. I did the first 6 boxes using that cartridge.

I decided to show you those ones today.
The first one I did.....NOT so cute. The rest are better I promise.
I tried coming up with cute phrases.
All Aboard the TOPS Train! TOPS....Worth the Ride.

The boxes needed to be flat for stacking so I added dimension by tying a big brown tulle bow on each side.

Sending Love

Well, I decided today to blog! It's been a while, but I do have some projects to share that I have stamped. Where have I been? Spending as much time as I can with a little blue eyed blond of course! Hoping to

get more pics of this handsome little guy on my personal blog soon!

Last Friday I had an awesome opportunity to take a Copic Certification Class in Edmond, Oklahoma. The instructor, Lori Craig, is one of my dearest friends and has been such a blessing to me over the 9+ years I have known her. It was so good to see her again.

And to top it off I was able to meet a few of some special online friends in person- Beate, Jenn and Sharon. Oh....I had a wonderful day.I wanted to send a special card to Lori to let her know how special she is to me. And I wanted to use Copics on it of course! I don't have a good selection to color with just yet. So, I used my one Wide Copic- Y26 to color the seam binding. It made the seam binding a nice crisp ribbon and I really liked the color. I also colored the background paper with the Y26 Copic to match the ribbon. It started out a moss green.

The focal image was actually an illustration from a vintage children's book. I thought she was adorable. I punched her out and adhered it to a scalloped oval punch out which was sanded. The two pearl brads are mounted on to punched out circles. The Unity postage image and "Sending Love" sentiment was the final step.

I actually mailed this card the same day I made it! Love it when that happens!

Teacher Thank You

A friend of mine wanted some thank you cards for her girls' teachers so I made a simple set of these for her.

Pretty easy. I was glad to have found the apple punch at Tuesday Morning in Kansas this past weekend since my 2 apple dies were a little too big.
The dotted frame was made using a marker. And I pulled out one of my many background stamps that I haven't used in a while!
Clean & Simple they were.

I tied the set with red and white twine, but I didn't get a chance to take a pic.

Happy Birthday, Sweet Lori!

Several years ago, a tall blonde showed up at my front door to join a group stamp meeting we were having. I liked her immediately. And it was apparent that she had both creative skills and a magnetic personality! Having both stamping and a heart for Jesus in common, we hit it off right away. I am speaking of Lori Craig who is amazing, self assured, upbeat, positive, dependable, dynamic, and I could go on and on. I wish I could see her more often, but miles have separated us for a few years now. I am looking forward to seeing her this summer. And I was only too happy to be included in making her birthday today a special and memorable one.

My Daisy Friend

What a busy week I have going here! Not much time to post, but I hope that changes next week.
Even if I can't stamp, I guess I can make a quick post! Here is a card I made a few weeks ago, but never posted.

Once again, the DP (from my local scrap store's 10 cent scrap basket) is pretty much the focus of the card. While looking through my stamps for the perfect sentiment, I happened to find one that matched the DP. It's a Michael's $1 stamp and one I am happy to have found since I've used it many times!

I got so many new stamps and goodies to play with last week that I feel spoiled!

But, sadly this was the only card that I made last week!

Time just gets away from me.

I used a layout on this card that showcases the designer paper and makes it a pretty simple card even if the layered flower makes it look a little time consuming (and beautiful!). I've been a bit addicted to Listia which doesn't help my time problem. I finally got more items listed too!
In fact I listed this card today here and the best part? It's FREE!

I pulled out my tin of flowers and matched the colors to the flowers in the DP. The little pink button shanks happened to be laying on my desk begging to be used. It's such a pretty pink and I had SO many that I listed 10 of them on Listia too!

I LOVE this little monster I borrowed from my girlfriend! (Falling for You- Paper Smooches) Just like a lot of other Kim Hughes images, the lines are simple and make it easy to paper piece. And can't you imagine it with a LOT of different sentiments?
Before I send it back this week, I am going to stamp it on all kinds of DP scraps!

Casing the CAS Queen

I saw this fabulous card on Julie's blog Paper Trufflez. (Yes, THE Julie.) I loved it so much and used it as my inspiration for this card. Instead of a button, I used an eyelet snap I had on hand that matched my Kiwi Kiss papers.

Of course, I had to add a butterfly to my version of the card.
I used the Art of Life set again along with a CHF Kim Hughes set called Natures Silhouettes.

Simple Butterflies!

You really can't get much more CAS than these 2 cards. I was inspired by a butterfly card I found on Ilina's site. As you could probably guess I have a lot of butterfly punches and dies and have traded diecuts with other stampers as well, so I have a lot of butterflies to choose from. Can you tell these butterflies are little embroidered patches?

Yep, I have had them in my butterfly box forever and decided now was the time to use them.
The sentiment comes from the Unity March KOM- "Just You" and the little dotted background is from an older SU set "By Design" which was actually rescued from my For Sale box.

I was MIA a LOT longer than I intended to be, but I am back!
To make a long story short Katie and I went to Tennessee- near Nashville. My aunt and uncle live near there and we went out to lend a helping hand and give out a few hugs after my uncle had a series of strokes a few weeks ago. He is recovering slowly but surely and we are happy that he is doing so well and back at home. But my aunt doesn't have much family out there and Katie and I wanted to be there for her.
Before I left I made several cards and had intended to post during my spare time, but there really wasn't much "spare" time at all.

Today and possibly tomorrow though, I will have time to relax and start showing those projects to you.
This first card is very fitting and if it weren't so feminine I would absolutely be sending it to my uncle.

I will have to make another one with this verse for sure! The verse is from a new Verve set I recently bought called "Blue Skies". I have to thank my friend Amy for making a card with this set recently because I totally LOVE it!
The flower stem came from an older Stampin Up set called "The Art of Life ". I knew I held onto that set for some reason! My yellow embellishment tin came in handy to find a matching brad and flower and the ruffled ribbon from my LSS scrap basket was added to a strip of Scor Tape. LOVE that stuff!
Well, I am off to edit some more pics and relax on my couch for the rest of the day!

Good Sunday afternoon!

I meant to have a post ready to go this morning but my card was sitting on my desk half finished while I was at church and then lunch with our kids.

You know what they say..."the best laid plans...."

I saw this Clean and Simple sketch a couple of weeks ago and put it in my Sketch Folder of sketches I want to try.

It worked so well with the frame image from Unity's January Kit- "To the Moon and Back".

I have a special friend who is inspiring me in so many ways recently. She will be getting this card in the mail this week. Because she really does inspire me!

It's laundry today at my house. And I've got a bunch! Found some great deals yesterday while I was out yardsaling with my daughter-in-law.

Beautifully Inspired

I saw this inspiration photo over at the Shabby Tea Room.

Isn't it beautiful?

I brought out a piece of my treasured Soft Sky cardstock and made a card for the challenge. The rose trio image is by- guess who? Yep...UNITY! More loveliness from the March Kit of the Month. And the sentiment is from the February KOM. The rest of the card came together so easily and I pulled out my wrinkle ribbon I recently bought on Etsy. I am going to try my hand at making this stuff myself one of these days! Of course I HAD to add a couple of butterflies. I stamped one in the corner as well. It needed something and that was it!

I've had a blast being the Growing in Unity guest this week. I was able to spend quality time with my Unity stamps and I only love them more! Speaking of...have you set your eyes on the new April kit of the month? I can't wait to get my ink on it! If you decide to try the kit yourself, let them know I sent you. {wink}

Friends With Flair Friday

I have another butterfly card today as I play along with the Unity's Friends with Flair. I've been showing you my Unity all week long. But today I join other stampers from all over showing our Unity flair.

I was quite excited to see this leopard print butterfly and matching background stamp in the March Kit of the Month. One of my best friends is a teacher at a school where the mascot is a jaguar so wild animal prints are definitely "her".

I only wanted You... on the front of the card so I masked the "BE YOU" sentiment from the February KOM- The Best is Yet to Be", and added the dots with a fine tipped black marker. I know that there is a Cuttlebug folder with animal prints, but I don't have it so I settled on the Tim Holtz "Damask" folder instead. Disco Black embossing powder was perfect for the butterfly which is popped up on the scalloped oval panel. And doesn't that vintage rick rack add just the right touch? Love it!

Butterflies a Plenty!

Here is the last of my cards using the Woodhaven papers (for now) . I really do enjoy them so much so you are sure to see them again one day. I hardly dented the package!

I've used the beautiful butterfly frame from Unity's March Kit of the Month.

For those of you who know me, you know that my hubby calls me "Butterfly". He started calling me that many years ago after I got my butterfly tattoo. And so I LOVE butterflies. In addition to many beautiful stamps I collect jewelry pins of butterflies. They are just so delicate and beautiful. What's not to love? I knew I wanted to use the butterfly frame for my card and put my sentiment there.

When I looked at the sketch I chose for inspiration, I knew most people would use the smaller oval for their sentiment. But I thought of a group of butterflies in flight for this spot.

I started with an oval punch and added the different butterflies tacking down only one wing or the center of their body.

I hope you can imagine them flying off the card.

I am SO excited to be this week's Growing In Unity featured stamper! Go to Unity's blog and look on the sidebar. (big grin) THAT'S ME as the Growing in Unity girl!
I am little late getting started with my week of Unity projects. But, I stamped all day yesterday and have lots of cards to show you! Then I finally got some pictures taken. Had to go outside to get any kind of light. Log cabins are a little lacking on good lighting, especially on a cloudy day!
I will have 2 cards to show you today, one now and one a little later. They are both similar but on this first one I went CAS. The flower is stamped in Baja Breeze and I added a light touch of Old Olive on the edges with a marker. Then I added glitter with a 2 way glue pen. Can you see the sparkle?I'll kick it up a notch on the next one this afternoon!
You may recognize the paper from this project. They are from Colorbok and called "Woodhaven". The papers are so beautiful, I can't stop using them.

Believe You Can Fly

I am so in love with Unity stamps! I can't wait for my Kit of the Month stamps to get here every month! The 2 images I used on these cards were in my March package and they'll make such awesome cards for friends of mine who need a little encouragement!
I made this soft green card first.

The designer paper came from scraps of Prima "Ladybug" and the heart was paper pieced with the same paper. After making this one, I thought it would have looked prettier on a light pink base. So I remade the card with pink. The only problem was I had no more of the first paper. The second card was made using a Basic Grey "Bittersweet" 6x6 pad.

Both cards are 4.25" square- one of my favorite sizes.
They were Clean and Simple for sure! But I really like how they turned out.

Ice Cream Trio

I planned on making more of them and had already stamped the ice cream cones and cut them out. So today I used the same color combo, but changed the layout. I made 2 of these.

Monsters!

My very crafty daughter-in-law, Megan made the cutest monster baby toys using this tutorial from The Crafty Cupboard. I love them so much that it made me want to stamp a monster card. I didn't have any monster images, but my good friend Lori was sweet enough to send me this little guy and the stamp set "Falling for You" from Paper Smooches that he belongs to!

The card is 4.25" square and the cut up sentiment came in my Unity Kit of the Month.

I am on a mission to try and use all of these images before the April kit arrives!
The designer papers are scraps from the LSS scrap basket so I can't tell you the brands. I just don't know.
That's all for me today. I have a HUGE list of errands. UGH!

For Mom

My dad called yesterday to tell me my mom had fell and broke her hip. She had to have surgery last night to put in a screw and pin. I wanted to make her a pretty card to cheer her up.
Enter Webster's Pages paper! They have some of the prettiest papers and they require little work to make a gorgeous card.A layered flower with a button was really all it took. The button started out clear and I added a circle of the same DP I used behind the WP panel. I threaded twine through the button and tied a tiny bow and stamped "Thinking of You" on the main panel. Early Espresso is the card base. Poor Chocolate Chip is not getting much action these days!
I talked to Mom just a while ago. She seems in good spirits. Thank heaven for good pain meds!

Another Planner

I am almost done with my planners. I have basically treated them as cards- just a different size. For this planer I used what I thought was the 4th March Viva la Verve sketch, but it was actually February's. OOPS!

This planner is for my neighbor and the inside pages have horses on them, so I wanted the cover to be a soft "country" look.

It's been fun to get back into the stamping groove and posting on a more regular basis! I should be back Monday!

I just couldn't wait to play with my newest Unity Stamps! The March Kit of the Month was another winner. I've never been disappointed!
I decided I needed more birthday cards...especially juvenile ones. So that is going to be my mission over the next few weeks. Besides, they are FUN cards to make!

I pulled the color combo from the paper which was from some Sassafras papers I bought a little while back from CraftySteals.com. If you've never heard of them, you have to check them out. They have 1 "steal" a day and they hunt the cutest stuff for their bargains! I have been very happy with my purchases from them.

This card was made for Jen's March Sketch for you to Try (SFYTT) that I turned on to its side as well as the Meljens Challenge which was dots. It also goes into the pot for the Papertake Weekly Challenge- Triotastic and both Paper Play and Let's Ink it Up to emboss.

It's Friday and we are going to see the grandbaby and of course his mommy and daddy. It's family pizza/game night!

I am still playing along in challenges and it is really getting my stamping mojo going! First of all, I checked in with Our Daily Bread Designs yesterday and saw that they were having a scrapbook challenge to use the color fuchsia and or crystals. Well, I did not do a scrapbook page, but used those elements as my starting point for my card instead. I am not entering the challenge as it is not a scrapbook page. I saw the Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge to use Stars! And lastly I played along with the sketch challenge at There She Goes.

My card is pretty straightforward. I added a layer of Crystal Effects to my punched & embossed star and sprinkled a bit of glitter over the top. It really stands out!

A second card today! Really!I couldn't resist doing another of the CAS cards with lime green and grey! This time I used this cool shoe trio image from Unity. Not much to it. A card panel of Kiwi Kiss with an easy embossed frame brings dimension to the card. I colored the shoes in with a blender pen. And to make one shoe stand out I dusted off my bottle and added Crystal Effects.
I know exactly who is getting this card!!!

Our Daily Bread Designs is celebrating their 3rd anniversary this year! These stamps continue to be my go-to scriptures and if I had my own way (and more $$) I would certainly own a lot more of their stamp sets!
The scripture I used for my card today was the verse I chose for one of the first anniversary scripture collections. I am participating in their Anniversary Challenge by using pearls on my card today. They are brown but I hope they still count. They matched the Basic Grey "Blush" papers so nicely!
The sketch I used was Viva la Verve Week 2. And I am also entering this into the Crafty Pad challenge to use buttons.

A Black & White Proverb

While trying to get rid of a headache today, I did a little bit of stamping to get my mind off of it. I knocked out 2 challenges on this card-

both the Mojo Monday Sketch

as well as the Get Your Diva On Challenge which was to use neutrals with a pop of color.
The card was pretty quick once I decided on black and white. I dug through my scraps and found this cool black and white DP. The verse is one of my favorites and is a Plain Jane by Verve. The Victorian Embossing folder brought the black background to life. I nearly went with red as my color splash, but instead went with the bright spring green Prima flower and ribbon (Hobby Lobby) as my pop of color. Instead of hauling out my Wizard and dies, I went easier since my verse fit perfectly into my Marvy oval and scalloped oval punches.
Stamping helped a little, but I am hoping I am headacheless tomorrow so I can help take care of my grandbaby.

I took a few minutes this afternoon to work on a card. From beginning to finish (pics and all) it took less than a half hour to make 4 of these cards!The jumpstart for my project came from Mark's Finest Papers challenge of a maximum 1 layer card with lime green and grey. That took most of the guess work out. No designer papers needed so all I needed was to pick out a stamp! This HELLO stamp came from the Michaels dollar bin and is a vertical stamp. I stamped it on Going Grey and Kiwi Kiss paper and cut them out. I stamped my Notebook paper background from CHF ( gee...I miss them) in Kiwi Kiss and added the letter squares with some glue dots. Easy peasy! It left me time to post before I head to our 3rd tax appointment! UGH....L O N G story! Gotta run!

Our area is also on alert for wild fires. There are several burning around us and we are watching very carefully in case we need to evacuate. We live on a dead end and would be caught back here if a fire suddenly came up blocked our exit. I would appreciate and and all prayers for those affected by the fires down here.

I did a little stamping today trying to stay busy. Well, in fact, I did quite a bit.
I wanted to get ahead on some of the challenges I have been wanting to do.

My first card covers 3 challenges.

The sketch I used was Unity's Hip Hop Sketch Challenge #48 and using hearts was the Unity February/March Challenge. And finally, I used bleach for the Mark's Finest Paper's "Speedy the Cat's Friend's Challenge #45". I haven't stamped with bleach in so long. I've always loved the effect. I made 3 more cards which were similar too. Here is one of the others.

I pulled out a Kaleidacolor pad as well. I've had these for so long and they are still amazingly wet! To add a little something-something to the card I put a tiny heart jewel in the O of Love and spritzed the card with my air art tool and a Pink Passion marker. Pretty simple. These are going into my Valentine stash for next year, although they could definitely be used throughout the year.
I've got a couple of planners to show you tomorrow! Then I've got to get my house cleaned for company. My cousin is coming into town this weekend!

Whimsy Pair

I recently purchased the cutest Making Memories "Scrapbook Project Pad" named Whimsy. The 8x8 papers came with all sorts of embellishments including ribbon, flowers, chipboard, buttons and diecuts. At over 1000 pieces it was a steal at Tuesday Morning for FIVE BUCKS.

And did I mention it's C U T E?

I pulled it out yesterday afternoon and decided to grab a couple of sketches to work with.I chose the My Favorite Things SCS sketch for my first card. And didn't notice until I started writing this post that I had mixed up the sketches. I intentionally used a Verve stamp on what I thought was the Verve sketch. But it was the MFT sketch instead. OOPS! The card is still cute and fun.

And will be a great card to send to a friend going through a particular trying time!

For the next card, I used the Mojo Monday sketch! The Mojo Monday sketches are always a treat. They are one of my favorites!

Using the same Whimsy papers I made a birthday card for this sketch!
I love how the cupcake (from the $1 Michael's stamp bin) and the Wish with candle (Unity) went together like they were made to! Paper piecing is always fun. Since I lack those marvelous markers (whose name starts with a C and ends with a P) *sigh*, it's a good alternative to coloring at my house! Remarkably, my camera actually cooperated and let me get a decent close-up!

I rEally likE how this first onE turnEd out! I found this papEr pad at Ross dEpartmEnt storE of all placEs for only $2.99. It's by Colorbok and callEd WoodhavEn. I lovE thE bluEs and grEEns and can't wait to usE it again. The vErsE was a 12x12 "Faith REmindErs" vEllum shEEt of Psalms. I ran it through a Xyron and adhErEd it to the grEEn papEr from thE samE WoodhavEn pack.

ThE othEr plannEr I havE to show you today usEs a scrapbooking kit I havE had forEvEr and sadly nEvEr usEd. But thE browns and pinks rEmindEd mE of my friEnd PEg and so this onE is hEadEd to Virginia!

I had some stamping time today and was up for a challenge so I joined Beate doing Claudia & Company's recipe challenge to use: stitching (real or faux), 2 patterned papers, buttons, a sentiment, circles and scallops! Whew! I used this week's SCS Color Challenge and I also glanced at the Unity Hip Hop sketch challenge!
After a couple of failed attempts, I finally came up with a card I could live with. Oh boy...my desk is sure a wreck! But I did have a relaxing afternoon stamping.

They may lOOK like a card, but since these are gOing intO a plastic sleeve, they need tO be pretty flat, sO nOt a lOt of embellishments! I am trying tO make mOst Of the planners inspiratiOnal.

This first One was made using Basic Grey's "LemOnade" paper kit and SU's "Delight in Life" stamp. Easy and simple!

Then there is this One made using Melissa Francis paper and a "Starfish and Dreams" vellum INSPIRE sticker. I like hOw they matched so well!
That's abOut all frOm me tOday. It's cOld here and hubby is building me a fire! I am gOing tO gO enjOy it!

Happy Birthday, Megan!

Yesterday, we surprised our daughter-in-law, Megan with a little birthday party. Her actual birthday is Wednesday so I think we caught her off guard. It is so easy (and fun) to buy presents for her. And I had a lot of fun making her card too!
It was my first Unity card! I couldn't wait to use this adorable bicycle/balloon image from February's Kit of the Month! I am such a happy kit of the month member! Something fun to look forward to every month and the kits include so many stamps with such a variety of images, and I really like them ALL!
WHAT FUN!
I have some more projects to upload and show so I hope to be back a few times this week!

A Sketchy Planner

Not only is it sketchy, I think it's kinda scrappy!

I started out with the Jen's February SFYTT.
Yep.... it's a small resemblance only!

The paper is called Washington Apple or something like that. Nice happy colors, don't you think? It's a pocket planner!
I finally got started on some promised handmade gifts.
At the beginning of the year I posted as my Facebook status that the first 5 people to respond and continue the status would get something handmade in the mail from me. I decided to make some pocket/purse planners. And this is my first one!

While browsing Facebook yesterday I happened upon a Cyber Challenge between Beate and
Jenn. They were using the Cupcake Creation color challenge which was pinks and greens. It didn't take much coaxing (none really) for me to join them! I've been meaning to make cards for my niece and one of my friends who are expecting! So, that's what I did!

I've had this prego lady $1 stamp for years. It's so adorable!
I couldn't resist adding pearls and lace to the polka dots and stripes!
One is blonde and the other brunette, but besides that they are the same!

Quilting

I have been looking at quilt magazines a friend gave me. I have ALWAYS wanted a quilt. I do have a lap quilt given to me from a sweet friend as a housewarming present. It's beautiful too! I would love to have one on every bed in the house. They are so pretty! And I have decided to make one myself out of denim. One of my goals for 2011!
But when I saw the quilted card tutorial on Splitcoast, I knew a quilted card was exactly what I needed to make for my quilting friend whom we have stayed with 2 weekends in a row in Wichita!
The beautiful papers came from that awesome scrap basket at my local scrap store. They even have a ribbon scrap basket with ziplocks of 3 ribbons which are just short of a yard for a quarter. I need to stay away as even dimes and quarters add up!

Valentines

Although Valentine's Day was Monday, I haven't given my TOPS friends their gifts yet due to bad weather conditions last week. And I am going to use that excuse for my post being late as well.
Although I know today is well into the upper 70s and it certainly doesn't feel like winter to me!!

I have made these water bottle pouches before. They are a lot of fun to make and really so simple!
I used a variety of punches and stamps and just had fun.

Each one says "friend", but other than that they are all very different from each other.

Katie helped me and we made 30!The papers that inspired the colors came from a Scrapbook Pad from We R Memory Keepers called "Tiffanys". (Colors are Pixie Pink, Tangerine Tango, Certainly Celery, Cool Caribbean and Early Espresso.) I could not find a tutorial on these and so I may come up with one myself.
They hold a pouch of Crystal Light powder. In my case, I used Great Value brand from WalMart. Less expensive and there are many flavors to choose from!

Valentine Time

I made a few Valentines this last week and planned to show them to you

one at a time, but never got to posting them. So here they all are in one post! All of these Valentine ideas were jump started from.

Valentines I spied on Splitcoast! I just modified them a bit!

These first 2 cards were CASEd from SuperJen.

I loved the simplicity of the sketch and of course being able to use scraps was a big plus in my book. I didn't have a heart diecut that size so I just drew a heart shape onto chipboard and traced it onto DP.

After I ran it through the Cuttlebug, I thought maybe it might look cooler on cardstock so I made another.

Then I made a scrappy card which was CASEd from Karen Dunbrook.

I made a couple of these and they were quite different from eachother, but I gave one away before I took a pic.

OOPS!

BrierRose was the Splitcoaster whose idea I cased for this cutie card.

She used buttons and I used Hero Arts heart pearls.

Sadly I sent the card before realizing the pictures I took were blurry. :'(

Then lastly I made this CAS card which Cindy H was so kind to share the idea for.

I think it is my favorite. So simple and uses just a little strip of scrap!
Yes, I do come up with my own ideas, but when I am in a hurry I like to CASE!
I just finished the "Valentines" I made for my TOPS group. I'll share those tomorrow!

I have been working on more of those Cookie Sheet Calendars. They are so much fun!
I had to share this awesome deal I found to use on them.
Kevin took me to Michaels on Saturday so I could get some of those foam paint brushes that were on sale (15 for $1) and right next door is a little store called Tuesday Morning. I could spend hours there. They always have different stuff. Their craft aisle is of course my favorite.
I couldn't believe it when I found these clear alphabet sets by Love Elsie for only $1.99. I wasn't sure if they included numbers or not, but knew I could use them anyway.
All but one ended up having numbers!
I started to choose one or two but Kevin said get them all. Who am I to refuse my husband? LOL
I would love to know.....

One Layer Butterflies

Have you ever challenged yourself on a project? I dare you to ask a friend or family member to chose a stamp set or paper choice or embellishment for your next project!

I did.

I recently asked my hubby to pick out a stamp set for me to use for a card. I tend to reach for the same ones over and over even though there are so many beautiful unused sets in my stamp cupboard. He chose the "Natures Secret" set which I have to admit I have used MAYBE once.

It is my intention to use more of my sets this year. We will see if that happens. I chose to make a CAS card with one layer because I wanted the quote to be the main focus of the card. Blue Bayou was the color I reached for.
I used part of this Inkadinkadoo bird stamp for the whimsical design on the "Martha" punched butterflies.

I may make more of these in different colors. I can just see it in pink!

Anniversary #25

Kevin and I celebrated our anniversary on New Year's Eve.

It is so very hard to believe that it's actually been 25 years!

We didn't do anything spectacular (yet). We had dinner at On the Border.

The kids gave us a Bed & Breakfast gift certificate and I am very excited about that.
Here is the card I made for Kevin.

I saw a card in the new SU mini catalog and used it as my "sketch". I like the way it turned out. I find myself turning to Kraft cardstock a lot when making cards for guys.

Cookie Sheet Calendars

I fell in love with the Cookie Sheet Calendars that Amy at "Then She Made" blogged about a while back. They were SO cute and looked so fun to make. I decided they would

make great gifts for my daughters-in-law! Megan happened upon them and mention

ed that she would love one. I knew I had to make them! So, Katie and I worked on them together and they really were a fun project!

Nearly all of the papers we used were from Die Cuts With a View 12x12 paper stacks. We tried to make Alli's calendar "teacherish" so she could use it in her classroom if she so desired. That paper pack is called "Hittin' the Books".

The papers we used for Megan's calendar are called "Songbird".

Initially I had intended to have a friend diecut the months of the year with her Cricut. But, I ran out of time and had to stamp them instead. The SU alphabets we used are called "Headline Alphabet" and "Bold Alpha". The squares are punched using a 1 3/8" square punch. All sorts of rub-ons, stamps, stickers and punches were used.

We just had fun! Binder clips were embellished with cute ribbons and clipped to the top ridge of the pan for hanging. It's quite sturdy!

Nearly everything has a magnet on the back and the actual calendar is on the backside of the pan. The extra months are stored in a "box" I adhered to the inside of the pan.

There are also extra squares for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays.

A Pair Of Sympathy Cards

Same design here... just a different flower embellishment. The flowers are something I really enjoy making. Another scrap from the scrap basket at my local scrapbook store. And the sentiment is embossed in Winter White.
The color combo is a little more bold than I usually do for sympathy cards. I'd love to hear your opinion on the colors!
One of these days I'll get back to posting a recipe. But, I am doing good to just stamp, take pics and blog about it at the time!
I need to work on my Christmas cards as well as a few gifts I'm planning to make, so I may be absent for a few days. Hope to be back and show some more cards very soon!

Pretty Butterfly

This is a simple Thanksgiving card which I made several of this year. The shimmery cream cardstock is leftover pieces from Brian and Alli's wedding invitations. It makes a cute little 3.5" square card- a fun little size.
The background papers are DCWV Autumn Splendor Stack. I have to say that orange, blue and brown is one of my favorite color combos.

Flower Trio

I recently packaged a lot of embellishments (such as the ones on this card) to sell at a local craft fair. Sadly, none of the packaged embellishments sold. When I got home and decided to use some of them, I was actually glad! I had stuck them onto a clear acrylic sheet with a glue dot thinking they would just pop off when they were used. THEY DIDN'T! They were stuck good! So I had to carefully pry them off. Now I will be using them on my own personal projects. I may make a bunch of cards such as this one to sell next time. The embellishments are made so it should be easy enough!

Pink Blossom Sympathy

I have had to make a lot of sympathy cards recently. I usually like for my sympathy cards to be fairly simple, but soft and elegant. The Memory Box paper I used for this card did exactly that.
This happens to be one of my favorite card designs when I want the paper to be the focus. There are so many pretty papers out there so I am always looking for a sketch like this!

I love black and white, but I love black and cream even more! Just a few strips of black and cream paper made these cards so very elegant. And I changed each one up just a little to make them unique.

Sorry that the pics are a bit blurry. They often look okay when they are on my camera screen, but when I upload them, they are not.

But these cards are already on their way to a new home so these pictures will have to suffice.

A Wrist Pin Cushion

I am adding a new label to my posts! Sewing Projects! This is my first sewing project that I did all by myself on the sewing machine my friend Paula gave me. And I made it for her! I used the tutorial found here on Tea Rose Home. But I originally found the idea at Delia's blog here.

Paula is a teacher and the mascot at the school where she works is the Jaguar. So I chose Jaguar fabric for the cushion and matched it to a black scrap from a box of fabric scraps from a yard sale. It wasn't perfect for sure, but I think Paula liked it!

Ahhhh... Webster's Pages are some of the prettiest papers ever!

This piece was a "scrap" that came from a basket at my local scrapbook store.
They take the leftover pieces of paper from classes and such and sell them for a dime each. Some of these pieces are half of a 12x12 sheet or more. I love digging through that basket. Lots of pretty papers that cost me hardly anything! You'll be seeing several cards from this scrap basket!

This morning my Aunt Betty passed away. She was 85 years old and leaves behind a wonderful family as her legacy. She will be missed.

When my sweet friend Paula asked if I wanted her old sewing machine I said "OH....YES, please!". I have always wanted to learn how to sew and the sewing machine came with a weekend crash course...lots of girl time. I've even made my first project which I'll be showing you soon!

I made her a cutesy thank you card....sweet and simple. K& Co papers (I know I've said it before...I LOVE K & Co!) and a fun sewing machine rub-on that matched perfectly.
I forgot to take a picture of the inside. It said "SEW MUCH" stamped with my Karen Foster Snap Stamps (I wish they still made those.)

Cookie Bouquet

I recently came across a crafting blog that I absolutely adore called "And Then She Made" by a crafting diva named Amy. She has some great ideas and I have already bookmarked several of them.

One of her ideas was this very cute cookie bouquet you can easily use as a Thank You gift. I made one for a neighbor of mine who as been going through a bit of a rough patch. I wanted to give her a little pick-me-up and I also wanted to say thank you for the farm fresh eggs we occasionally receive (and LOVE) from her. The bouquet was pretty simple to make.

The little pots came from JoAnn's fall clearance section. A set of 3 was only $5. I bought a piece of floral foam there as well. I stole the grass from one of my autumn centerpieces, the rub-ons came from my stash and hubby picked up the cookies, spice drops and skewers for me. It was fun, easy and VERY well-received.
On another note, I have been crafting and card making here and there and I have a list of projects I'd love to be working on. But, my back is keeping me from being too productive. I am trying to adjust to a new doctor's plan and so far it's not been a joyful experience. I would appreciate your prayers! And in the mean time I just may be a bit more regular with blogging as the laptop is my friend. And I have photographed several projects over the last few months, just not put them online! You may see more than just paper projects although papercrafting is my first love!

Flowers

Yes, I know it has been forever since I uploaded anything to this blog and I sincerely apologize. I put my blog on the back burner for a few months. Those of you who know me, know why. But, in a nutshell....

My hubby retired from the Air Force after 28 faithful years of military service... and

My younger son graduated from college AND married the sweetest girl... and

My oldest son and lovely wife gave us our first grandchild...the cutest baby boy EVER who has stolen my heart! and

We packed up and moved to Oklahoma and bought a log cabin, (a dream come true!) and

Our youngest child flew from the nest and is going to college hours away from her mama... and

We moved oldest son, wife and baby down to Oklahoma and they are living here until they figure out God's plan for their lives...

SO... I get to hold my little punkin every day instead of blog. And that works for me.

My lovely daughter in law, Megan is one of the craftiest people on the planet and so I am also getting to craft a bit. She has made some wonderful pumpkin decorations and lots of other fun stuff. She has an etsy store where she sells her beautiful jewelry and she also goes to local

(and not-so-local) craft shows and sells her jewelry. She is also starting a new etsy where she sells baby items such as pacifier clips, nursing covers and wet bags. She certainly stays busy with Gabe and all that crafting!!!

This Friday there is a craft fair on base and due to the fact that I need to be there with her as an ID holder, I have been making flowers and embellishments to sell as well. I found THIS very cool tutorial on You Tube and simply followed her instructions. My favorite part of making cards and things is layering flowers and embellishments, so that is what I decided to do. I've got LOTS of layered snowflakes and butterflies and flowers made and these so pretty roses!That will be all from me today, but I've been making cards here and there and even taking pictures when I remember so I will try to come back a few times a week. (Unless I get to holding the grand.) See you soon!

Paper Pieced Owl

I made this little 4 x 4 card a long time ago... before I started focusing on my wedding invitations and lost ALL of my readers.
Out TOPS girls are OWLS and I got to thinking I could easily make my own little owl from paper. This was a quick and easy paperpieced owl (from scraps), with button eyes, with piercing and a quick THANK YOU stamped on Kraft cardstock....so simple.

I probably won't be posting on this blog for some time yet. The wedding invitations ARE coming along nicely. ALL of the paper has been cut and scored. MOST of the stamping and punching has been completed. I've got a little more of that left and then ASSEMBLY.
275 didn't seem like a HUGE number of invitations until I started making them. BUT it is a labor of love and I really am enjoying every minute of it. It consumes ALL of my spare time. Even housework has gone to the wayside until they are completed. I hope that will be before we leave for Brian's graduation so I can take them with me. I have 20 days to do it! Wish me luck!

A Guy Card- 2 Ways

SO, I had BIG plans for March. I was going to show you all a ton of Masculine cards! Obviously that did NOT happen. Here we are half way done with March and I have not even posted one single card! *sigh* It's hard to work full time. I simply don't have the time for anything besides working, cleaning, cooking, and sleeping!
I have stamped a few cards this month. But, they went out in the mail before a picture could even be snapped! UGH!
But, I did make a couple of masculine cards before I started working. These 2 cards went out to my dad and to my younger son, Brian!

The layout came from inspiration from Splitcoast. And I can not find the card again to save my life. But, yes, you may have seen something similiar somewhere else. I changed it up a bit.

I made a few of these cards for Valentine's Day, but figured I could use them for anniversary cards as well. The sketch was FTL77 from Clean & Simple.

The flower was several scalloped circles punched from a vintage dictionary and layered and crinkled up with a button added. A friend had sent me a link to this tutorial and I had to try them!
I was very impressed at how the Versafine Onyx Black ink worked on these new Basic Grey Acrylic stamps! The "LOVE" sentiment is from Paper Trey!
I am on my lunch hour at my new job, so this is a "Quickie".

White on White

I was visiting some friends' blogs recently and just fell in love with this white on white card from my blog buddy, Silke. I was fortunate enough to work with Silke on the Our Daily Bread Designs team. I fell in love with her work and have been a regular visitor to her site ever since.

I didn't completely copy Silke's card. But, I did use the same concepts of flower silhouette images and the white on white. And I added the greeting on an oval as she did the circle. I used an embossed panel behind the main image panel. I changed the colors of my flowers and I simplified it a bit, leaving off the embellishments, but none the less, I LOVE these cards. SO much so that I made a set of four. A couple of these have already been sent as I am working on my RAK list!
I started a new job this week. After looking for a job for several months using the want ads and word of mouth, I finally bit the bullet and contacted an employment agency. In less than a week, I was employed. I really think an employment agency is the way to go! And I really like my job too. I forgot how self-fulfilling working can be.
But, it also limits my stamping and computer time, so blogging posts may be few and far between. I've got some drafts with recent projects though so I'll be around.

Mini Valentines

I have some little tiny envelopes. They are about 2 1/4" x 4".
I decided to use those little envelopes and make valentines to go in them for my TOPS girls. Our TOPS group is named the OWLS (Operation Weight Loss Sisters) and we recently ordered a custom stamp off Etsy that says our chapter name and info in a circle around this little owl.

I punched out the owl and made these Valentines with him holding a punched heart. The Owls are on a shimmery paper. You can see it better in the 2nd picture. Each Valentine was a little different.

Their size reminds me of the Valentines we would give to fellow classmates as children.
So I decided to make small ones for my Godchildren as well.
I cut the little postage stamp style pictures from a 12x12 sheet of them and decorated each card to match.
They were fun to make!

FTL75 & A Question of Adhseives!

I love to stamp! And I especially love to stamp Valentines!
And I love to have a sketch to jumpstart my creative juices.
Clean & Simple is almost always a good place to start. And in fact, I've used their last 3 sketches for jumpstarts on my Valentines! This one is their Fall-to-Layout #75!

The several shades of pink on my ribbon was an inspiration to stamp the hearts in Rose Red, Regal Rose and Pretty in Pink. Simple as can be from there!
Now, I've got a question for you!
I'm in the final stages of preparation to make the wedding invitations. Almost everything has been bought and printing is the next step. But thinking a little further past that to adhesives is giving me a bit of a hiccup.
here's why. Back when I started stamping a lot, I used Monoadhesive. I still have a few laying around. But towards the end of my using it, I wasn't happy with it's performance. And the bargains we were able to find on it grew scarce. So I started a search to find a better, less expensive adhesive. And I thought I had found it. I invested in a Scotch ATG gun and purchased a box of tape rolls for it. That box lasted me quite a while. But I have to say I was not pleased with the last few rolls. The rolls seemed to "warp" and the tape would end up coming off of the dispenser "nozzle" and I spent too much time trying to get it back on and going right. Then, the last straw for me seemed to be when I tried to use my last roll. The adhesive seemed to be on the wrong side. I've not yet found the time to contact Scotch about my problem, but intend to.
Since that time, I've been using a combination of Glue Glider Pro (similar to the ATG but smaller in size, the refills can be costly), double stick tape, Scotch Quick Drying Tacky Glue and this and that.
I am on the lookout for the perfect adhesive and I'd love to hear what YOU use!

This week's sketch at Card Positioning Systems was a pretty good start for a Valentine!

I made 2 of this one. The card measures 4 1/4" square. The background papers came from my scrap drawer and the colors are Pink Passion and Basic Black. The stamp set used is "A Little Somethin" from SU.
So easy!

Jen's SFYTT is Back!

Although my usual style is more "clean and simple" I do love to layer it up once in a while. And of course I can't resist a great sketch. Jen's SFYTT has been away for a while (Jen had a baby!), but she is bringing her sketches back in style! I plan on making all of the February designs if I can. I'm starting with this week's sketch and some romantic K & Company papers! (Brenda Walton- "Madeline").

I have NO idea why the flower doesn't seem to match in this picture.

Specially Requested Thank You Cards

It's Monday, Monday....

How was YOUR weekend? I was a stamping machine. I made a lot of Valentines and some RAKs that I've promised to send. Hopefully I will get some photo editing done this week to share those with you!
For now, I've got a project I worked on last month.A very special friend of mine asked me to make her some Thank You cards. I would go out of my way to do a favor for this friend. She is one of a kind! VERY special.
Light Blue and Orange were the colors she requested so I went with Bashful Blue and Pumpkin Pie. Pumpkin is MUCH better than Only Orange. In fact, I doubt I have used Only Orange since Stampin UP came out with Pumpkin.

I came up with a simple design for a 4 1/4" card. And to keep from using too much of my supply of any one color, I alternated each color for the different layers. I used a stamp that was designed for a small tag punch, but it punched nicely from a circle punch as well.
I couldn't decide which Cuttlebug folder to use, so I used them all. I also used a variety of ribbons and added punched flowers for dimension.
On the orange and blue cards, I added a white panel inside stamped with a flower border. And I also stamped the envelopes with a pair of flowers. I love how these turned out. Each one was different.

Journals Part 2

Here are a few more journals! The first journal I made was for Miss Linda (Christine's daughter). Since it was the first, it was modpodged. I added tiny rhinestones to the butterflies.Barbara requested red and the prayer I printed. To stretch the one piece of 12x12 paper (from a Christmas paper stack!) I got a little creative with the back!
The last of the journals was one I made for our Bible study leader. It matches our study guide. I love the font! Veteran Typewriter which I downloaded from DaFont.com!

Journals Part 1

Okay.... so don't pass out. I am actually updating my blog TWO days in a row! I've had a couple of inquiries into my journals. I've made about 8 of them over the last couple of weeks. A couple of them I forgot to take pics of. But I've split the journals into 2 posts. I'll show you a few today and a few tomorrow.
I LOVE making cards, but I have to admit making gifts and altered items is my favorite thing to make!
ETA- I started with Composition Notebooks. I recently found some with brown spines on clearance at Staples. A great find!
The first journal was for Sweet Eloise of my TOPS group. She liked a purple journal I had made previously. Since NO 2 journals were alike (due to the fact that I have only one piece of each paper) I made Eloise's journal different, but close to the other design.
The next journal was for Ellen. I painted the spine with white paint and made hers PAISLEY. I do love PAISLEY. Here is a close up of her name and a little paisley diecut. The next journal was for Miss Christine. She is the oldest member of our TOPS group. Somewhere between age 80 and 90. She's still spry. These lovely K & Co papers seemed perfect for her and I stamped and embossed a Psalm to go on her journal.Since I made so many of these, I learned a few things along the way! On some of them I used Mod Podge and on others I ran the paper through the Xyron adhesive. I preferred the Xyron. The Mod Podge sometimes bubbled or made the paper tear. It was hard to apply it evenly.
And at first I used my corner rounder before adhering the paper to the journals. But I learned that using an exacto knife and trimming the corners AFTER adhering worked better.
Also, filing or sanding the egdes gave the journals a finished look and helped get rid of the adhesive gunk.
I used my new Cuttlebug alphabet to personalize the journals. I LOVE having an alphabet die set! Definitely one of my favorite Christmas presents. Thank you, Jake and Megan!!!!

Accordian Card

I know you're having a hard time believing it, but I am actually POSTING! Sadly, I found this card in my DRAFTS that I hadn't yet posted. But, I have several projects on my memory card that I just need to get edited and save to my Blogger. I will try to do that today so I can post once in a while and not lose all of my readers.
I have decided to keep my chat to a minimum though so I've come up with a plan. My posts will contain a project and then a simple paragraph that starts with

What I like about this card:
I've never made a card like this before! I used my Ultimate Crafter's Companion and it really did make it easy! I love layering the flowers from paper flowers and punches! And of course I adore this K & Company paper- Wild Saffron!

Year in Review

I saw this idea on Rose Ann and Sharon's blogs and decided to browse through my own year of projects.
Here are my personal favorites of the year 2009.

January

I love the crocheted flowers and paper piercing on this ODBD card.

February

Sellabration.....I used the heck out of this SAB set and matching DP. SO springy!

March

*sigh* This framed art piece with FlowerSoft bouquet was so pretty IRL. I knew it had to go to a good home.

AprilAnother ODBD card. I love layering flowers like this and the SU DP is so pretty!

MayI do like my butterflies! This was my May Divine Design project. It makes me happy to know it's in a book full of amazing scriptures that I can look at again and again.

June There was so much detail in this card. I really like how the sunset turned out.

July Again...layering flowers. But this was SO sparkly and the CAS design became my favorite stamping style this year for sure!

August Layering again, but this time with Spellbinder dies and pearls. One of my all time favorite cards. This one went to my son and his wife for their 2nd anniversary.

September More butterflies and pairing them with K & Company DP "Urban Rhapsody" was like magic.

October My Top Note die saw it's share of action in 2009. I really liked this Halloween card. Funny thing...I am not sure how I feel about Halloween, but I enjoy making cards for the occasion. LOL

November I made a few cards with a small scrap of this shimmery brown cardstock and stickers from the clearance section at Walmart. The pic is dark, but the cards were SO pretty. And I fell in love with that shimmery paper. I am thinking it will be what I use for my son's wedding invitations!

December

I know it isn't a card! But there is paper wrapped around the TP roll so I can call it a paper craft project. Seriously, I had so much fun making these little party favors and wish I would have had one left for me.

On the Subject of Christmas Cards.....

I nearly forgot about my survey. I was curious about how many people still send out cards. The numbers are probably a little skewed on this card maker's blog, but....
The results?
Most people (58%) say that they send cards to ALL of their friends and family.

36% say they send Christmas cards to their family and a few close friends.
One person said they have never sent cards and another said they send cards to whoever sends them one.
I really think that more and more people are choosing not to send cards these days. The reason is probably the cost of postage. And the time it takes too. We are SO busy these days.
I sent over 130 and received 49. A few were stamped and several were my personal favorite... the picture cards. I just love those. There were some gorgeous cards too. One had a packet of seeds inside with the cutest poem about how they planned to send a tree.
So, what do you do with those cards?
I love my friend Shelley's idea of having a basket of cards near their dining room table. Each night they pick a card and pray for the sender(s) at their evening meal.
I save my cards from year to year and usually put them with my Christmas decorations with a band around them labeled with the year. One of these days I will make something cool with them. Any ideas? When I was in the 4th grade (I think) we made placemats by cutting circles out of the pictures on the cardfronts and gluing them together and laminating them. Kinda cool.

Box of Top Notes

At TOPS we have a special day for each member and it's always a surprise to them. Everyone brings a card and gift. I thought and thought of what to bring and since this member was also a new stamper, I looked around my stamp room asking myself "if I could have one thing as a new stamper what would I like?" And I decided it would be the Top Note die of which I have been in love with since I purchased it. I proceeded to die cut one Top Note die in each of the 48 Stampin Up colors. And when I finished I made a box for them with My Creative Companion.
I think she liked it.

Fleur de lis

Masculine cards.... us girls have a hard time with that, don't we?
I think that one way to make a card masculine is to make it less colorful. With this card I stuck to Kraft brown (always a good choice) and black with white, no ribbons or do dads and a simple layout. I am REALLY loving fleur de lis recently! Funny thing is every time I use it, my hubby asks if the receipient is a Saints fan. Oh well.
I haven't stamped much since Christmas. I hope to make time today. I need a sympathy card for a sweet friend and then I am thinking journals are in order for my TOPS friends for the new year! AND of course I need to start thinking of my son's wedding invitations.

Snowflake Label

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
I hope you're Christmas is filled with LOVE! That IS after all, what it's ALL about!
This is the last of my Christmas cards. One of the final designs. I made only about 6 or 7 of these because I ran out of Paper Trey Inc. white cardstock. I quickly remedied that situation! I love the PTI Stampers Select cardstock for a white card base! On some of the cards I used the scor bee and scored some dots in place of the strip of DP. The sentiment is from Verve and the blue is Baja Breeze. The snowflake is a Spellbinder Create a Flake die and the jewel centers were loose in my bin of "Confetti".

Christmas Trees on Christmas Eve

A few weeks ago I went through my scraps of DP, picked out the Christmassy colors and cut out a million triangles because I had an idea for a Christmas card. THEN a week later I sat down to put the idea to paper. What a poor idea. A lesson learned though. Now I have a million triangles (- a few) to do something with. (Okay a million IS an exaggeration.)
But, because I wasn't crazy about the cards I came up with, I didn't make a lot of them. Here are a couple.

It's Christmas eve. I've scheduled all of my posts for this week, so I am not sure EXACTLY what I am doing now. Except I know I am enjoying my family. I hope you are too!

Top Note Snowflakes

This card was not exactly what I envisioned. It bothered me a bit that the reds clashed. The card was a little bulky to mail, so it went to mostly local friends. I interchanged the Riding Hood Red, Wild Wasabi and Vanilla cardstock layers.
I hope everyone is ready for Christmas. It will be here whether we are or not, huh?

CAS Poinsettia Blossom

The layout I used on this card was a sketch from last year's Christmas cards. It's a fabulous sketch and can be used so many ways! Katie and I made a dozen of this design. I was surprised that the piercing was actually a quick step and really added just the right touch! Two scored lines and rounding the bottom corners of the Riding Hood Red card was another little touch.
In place of ribbon, I used a strip of coordinating DP. I've done this on several of my cards this year. It makes it flatter AND more economical. If this were a birthday card or one I were making only one of, I would probably use ribbon instead. The DCWV Holiday stack has several of these fabulous tone on tone designs which were perfect for this purpose!
Please keep Brian and Katie in your prayers as they begin the journey here in the morning! Jake and Megan leave Tuesday to be here for Christmas. I am SO very excited...
