Love One Another

I had just a little window of opportunity to stamp today.
And just a few minutes to post so this will be a quickie.
I started with the Weekend Sketch Challenge which was hosted this week by Charmaine.
I picked up this cute little House Mouse stamp at Hobby Lobby last week. He seemed to go so perfectly with the one of the verses from an April new releases from Our Daily Bread called "Love One Another". I just had to pair them up! The little heart pearls are from Hero Arts and are available at the ODBD store along with hundreds of other new items!
Thanks for stopping by today!
You bless me!

A Stamp-a-Stack!

With some encouragement from a great friend, I finally decided to try and find some local stamping friends. It's been a while since I've been able to sit down and stamp with others who share my passion.
It's easy enough to look up a stamping demonstrator on the Stampin Up website. I found a couple in my area who offer classes and lucky me, one of them was holding a Stamp-a-Stack yesterday! She graciously allowed me to attend very last-minute! Her name is Debbie and she also has a blog called Debbie's Addiction. She and all of the other girls at the class really made me feel welcome and I had a blast! I wish Debbie was a little bit closer, but I'll still be at most of her classes I'm sure!
Debbie has graciously allowed me to share on my blog the cards we made. She chose some great spring stamp sets and I was so excited to be able to play with some things I don't own!
We made 4 each of 4 designs. The first card we made was using the set "Cheep Talk". It's on my wish list and so now is this Kiwi Kiss ribbon!! So cute! Even though I said I wasn't going to get sucked into the new SU in-colors, I recently ordered them ALL. Tsk Tsk!

The next set of cards I made was using the set "Eastern Blooms" and the so-cute "Sweet Always" papers! The sentiment comes from "Best Wishes & More".Just for fun, I added some Crystal Effects and tiny glass beads to the flower middles when I got home.
The next project I moved onto was a set of cards using the small set "A Flower for All Seasons". This was the first time I had used watercolor paper and I was pretty impressed. The sample Debbie had used the little water pail of flowers with the cutesy frog. I decided I wanted one of each of the cute images. I loved the basket of tulips with the little bird. I also added a little glitz with a Sakura Gelly Roll Stardust pen. The cardinal with a pot of flowers was probably poinsettias for winter, but I tried to make it more springy. An Ooops of ink smudge became an opportunity for embellishment when I added a flower to the corner.
Lastly we used the Playful Petals set with Tea Party papers. We stamped the flower with Purple Stazon on vellum and colored it in with markers. It's very pretty. I adhered the floral panel with dimensionals to give it some pop. I was running out of adhesive at the class so I did that at home. I left most of my cards without sentiments so I could add them later. Any of these cards could be birthday cards, Easter or Mother's Day!
Thank you again, Debbie for some great projects and most of all for the fun time I had stamping at your lovely home!

Framed Scripture

Today I have another project with the fabulous new ODBD set "Scripture Collection 2". This Bible verse selection was the choice of DT member Chris Olsen. I am SO glad she chose this scripture. It is definitely at the top of my favorites as well. That's why I decided to frame it. This is actually a shadow box frame and my design will be under the glass, not on top of the frame as I have it for the picture.
I can't wait to give this as a gift.
I used my FlowerSoft again. This time to make a little bouquet in tissue. I hope to get more proficient at that, but I was okay with my first try for this project.
If you're not familiar with FlowerSoft be sure to check out the Product Review on Splitcoast today.
The papers I chose for this project are from the new Melissa Francis collection which I was SO blessed to win from Emma's Paperie. And look how pretty it was wrapped when it arrived!!! Emma's Paperie ROCKS!

That's all from me today. I've got to lots of errands to run so I'll have to come back and add my project recipe!
Have a blessed day!!

Featured Stamper = Super Stamper- Beate!

The featured stamper for Splitcoast this week is the one and only Beate! I spent about an hour browsing her amazing gallery and I think I only got to page 5! Seriously. I had a difficult time deciding what card to CASE, but eventually chose this gorgeous creation! I may end up doing another CASE this week if I have time. I used my Cuttlebug to diecut some transparencies and added FlowerSoft to the outside edges and flower centers. Here is a close-up. {FlowerSoft really needs to be seen to be appreciated!}
I am loving the new
Memory Box 6x6 papers I just got from the ODBD online store. This set is called "Sugardrop" and is full of pinks and browns of which I used 3 different papers.
Of course I used one of the latest releases from
Our Daily Bread Designs. This verse comes from Scripture Collection 1 and is the selection of DT member- Lorelie! There are 2 Scripture Collection sets and you will LOVE the size of these verses- perfect for a focal point of any project! And the font is SO beautiful. You'll definitely want both sets!!
I've been a little absent this last week while we were enjoying the visit of my younger son. We had an
eventful Friday when he and his best friend were involved in an accident on their way back to Kansas. He is now safely back at college and although a little sore, he seems to be fine.
I hope to be stamping all week with lots to show and tell.
Blessings!

If you're here for the blog hop,
please scroll down to the previous post!

Have you heard of
Card Positioning Systems? Each week they offer a sketch and usually a prize to go with it! This week's sponsor is Our Daily Bread Designs! That means another chance for you to win ODBD stamps!
Here is this week's CPS sketch #107:
I decided to use my You are the Potter set for the sketch. I cut one of the pots out and used the paper tole technique and cut out and layered several of these pots, making it very dimensional. The final pot was added to chipboard and covered with Crystal Effects. I love dimension!!
Isn't this Masterpiece Studios DP cool? It's called "God is the Potter" and of course ODBD carries it! I love it with this set, don't you? A match made in heaven.
Have a blessed day!

Blog Hoppin for the ODBD Anniversary!!!

It's time! Time to celebrate and time to HOP!
We're celebrating the One-year Anniversary at Our Daily Bread designs!
One year ago today ODBD owner Kelley Holland began her adventure.
What a fun adventure it has been and look where we are ONE year later! LOTS of inspirational stamps and an ever-growing selection of tools, papers and accessories!
Thanks for stopping on your way through our first Blog Hop. If you didn’t know about our Blog Hop and landed here by chance, there are goodies for you along the way and it’s important to hit the blogs in the order of the Hop. You’ll want to start out with
Dina at Mama Dina’s Stamperia. If you followed me here from Holly's blog, then you are in the right place! There is blog candy along the way and even I don’t know where it is, so be sure to start at the beginning of the Hop so you don’t miss it!
We've got a FUN game for a special grand prize! We are playing “Scripture Scramble!” Each blog has one or two words that you can collect at each stop and put together to make a scripture verse (NIV edition). Once you have collected all the words, send the verse in the correct order, along with the scripture reference by EMAIL to our DT Coordinator, Judy Rozema, at
lidaroseroz@gmail.com. (Please don't leave the answer in your comments.) Correct entries will be put into a hat and the Grand Prize winner will receive a set of their choosing from Our Daily Bread Designs AND (this is very cool) a selection of cards made especially for this celebration by some of the Design Team members including the card in this post from me.
Entries must be received by MIDNIGHT CST this Thursday, March 19th.
Whew.... all of the details out of the way....
Here is my Scripture Scramble word:

FROM
Speaking of scriptures, today is the release of two new scripture sets: Design Team Scripture Collection 1 & 2. Each of the Design Team members chose a verse that is special to them and Kelley made it into 2 special anniversary sets that are available for purchase starting today!
The design team members are using the scriptures they personally chose on their projects today.
Here is the card I made:

The verse I chose was Psalm 138:3. This particular verse is so full of hope. It's one of my favorites. When I'm beginning to think "I can't" all I have to do is remember this scripture and it reminds me where my strength and encouragement comes from. And that I CAN!
I am most likely on my way to Charlotte, NC to pick up my younger son as you read this post. I had so much to do so my card needed to be simple...this is one of my go-to layouts. And in honor of Kelley I used pink and green!
ODBD is now carrying Memory Box 6x6 papers and they are SO lovely! I've used the "Sprout" papers here on my card. The little pink fluff is Flower Soft- ODBD now carries some of the Flower Soft colors!
Now, back to the HOP! Next you'll want to visit
Angie at Quacking Creations. Wait until you see what she has to show you!
Have a GREAT day and LOTS of fun!
~Angel

The ODBD Anniversary Celebration Continues!

We are on day 4 of the ODBD celebration! Today you have to visit Dina and Betty to find the blog candy! And of course to see their smashing designs! Don't miss out on any of the fun!!

Scor-Pal

Have you gotten a Scor-Pal yet? If not, you may be interested in reading the Splitcoast Review Team's product review which you'll find here. This was a tool I really wasn't sure I "needed". But, I found it for a great deal and took the plunge! I am SO glad I did. Especially because of the new Scor-Bug. I didn't get a chance to talk about the Scor-Bug in my review, but it is an awesome little tool which will add a row of piercing in a snap! And I just got the Scor-Tape which is another fabulous addition to my must-have adhesives. No red liner sticking to me and I can tear this tape with my fingers! How cool is that?
Here is a card I made using the Scor-Pal to add grid lines to the center panel before stamping. It's very subtle, but adds a lot of interest to your project.

That pretty little butterfly was an RAK from my sweet friend Jami. Although I was tempted to hoard it, I made this card around that little gem! By the way, Jami has an awesome tutorial on her blog today that explains how to use your Scor-Pal as your cutting system! This is definitely something I am going to try as I am fed up with my Fiskars Paper Cutter!
I am so excited to be a part of this SCS Review Team. There are some exciting products coming up. I'll be sure to let you know when the next review is available!
Have a Blessed Day!

A Winner!

Sorry if you've been here looking for the winner announcement! I've seriously been gone all day long!
But as soon as I arrived home I went about the process of determining my winner. I went through and deleted all duplicate comments and those of my supportive and encouraging design team and those who already had the stamp set.
Sorry if there was any confusion, but the winner gets the stamp set "Hope", not any Shimmerz or a new paper cutter. LOL I was just wanting some opinions.
Out of 117 comments, Random.org picked

Another Entry Opportunity & Another Hope Card

Today is day 2 of our week long anniversary celebration to celebrate one year of Our Daily Bread Designs! I hope you're joining us for all of the fun. There are prizes to be had, you know?
Today,
Lorelie, Holly and Nancy have the party over at their blogs! But, don't forget about that Scavenger Hunt!
I've got a second card to show you that I made with that fabulous "Hope" stamp set. This card was made after I saw who the Featured Stamper was at Splitcoast this week. Of course I had to play along when I found out it was ODBD's very own Judy! I found
this card in her SCS gallery and I CASEd it! I changed the colors, DPs and added Shimmerz to my ribbon. This time I painted over the already pink ribbon with Bubblegum Shimmerz. I LOVE that color! And I added just a touch of Angel Wings to the flowers. Here is a close up of that Shimmer!

By the way, Angel Wings did appear to be the favorite of all Shimmerz colors in my little poll yesterday! But, remember you can leave a comment again today for a second entry into the drawing for the "Hope" set!
Today, I'd like to know what type of paper cutter you use and if you're satisfied with it! I am definitely in the market for a new paper cutter myself so this will help me in my research!
Leave me a comment by clicking on the comment button below. Please leave your name because "Anonymous" won't win the prize! And if you email me, it won't get into the drawing. Sadly, emails get lost on my computer.
Have a fabulous day and enjoy the party!

ODBD Anniversary Celebration! And a Tutorial on SHimmerZ!

WOW! Have you heard the news? Our Daily Bread Designs is having a BIRTHDAY PARTAY! You are invited to celebrate with us of course! In fact, I'm giving away one of the party favors myself! Maybe that's why you're here?
Well, I also have a fun tutorial for you too so I'll start there. We'll come back to the blog candy, I promise!!
If you haven't heard of Shimmerz brand paints you are REALLY missing out!
They are one of the hottest products in the stamping community and good news for you- The Our Daily Bread Designs store carries the entire line of Shimmerz Paints!
I want to tell you a little bit about Shimmerz today and just some of the many uses for them!
Shimmerz come in a little plastic pot that holds .25 oz. of this magical paint!

I've painted some plain white silk daisies with all of the different colors of Shimmerz that I own just to introduce you to the shimmer! I've found that Shimmerz dry quite quickly but if you spill a little, it will wipe right off with a wet rag.

Talk about versatility! Here are just some of the many ways you can use your Shimmerz:
~Stamp an image and color in with Shimmerz as your medium
~Shimmerize your designer papers by painting a layer of Shimmerz over the top
~Shimmerize your cardstock and punch shapes out of it

(The punched images from this paper are seen on my project that follows.)
~Edge your paper with shimmerz for a lovely border
~Stipple Shimmerz paint onto your card or project
~Stipple over a mask or stencil to leave a shape on your project
~Paint your embellishments with Shimmerz like I did with the daisies.
You can also paint buttons, brads, chipboard, punched elements, beads, ribbon, stitching and more!
~Use it to highlight areas after coloring an image
~Splatter it onto your project
Here is a short little video to explain this cool technique. PLEASE don't be too critical. I went with my first take here.

~Stamp with it! Use it in connection with a chalk ink or use it as your ink just like you would acrylic paints by painting it onto the stamp.

In this sample, I have inked the image with Chalk ink and painted Celery Shimmerz over it with a sponge brush, then stamped it onto white cardstock.
~Use it on your black and white photos to add just a pop of color!
~Use it on paper, acetate, metal, plastic, porcelain or vellum!

~Try mixing it with another water-based medium
~Try adding Crystal Effects over the top for SHINY, Shimmery FUN!
A few tips!
Shake your jar and paint from the lid!
A little can go a long way.
Use a paint brush OR an empty aqua painter for coloring with Shimmerz
Different brushes or applicators can give different effects!
Allow one color to dry before using an another color to avoid mixing.
Replace your cap tightly or you may have a pretty work surface! (learned that one the hard way!)
All week long the ODBD design team is giving away Our Daily Bread stamp sets. Kelley is letting me give away this awesome HOPE stamp set. Imagine the different ways you can use this ribbon!
(I found a site that actually lists all of the colors of awareness ribbons and what they stand for. Click
Here to go to that site!)
I've made 2 cards using the fabulous Shimmerz along with the Hope set!
I'll show you one today and one tomorrow! For this card I painted a quarter sheet of white cardstock with Shimmerz-one in Opal and one in Flashee Fuchsia. I punched some flowers from the shimmerized paper and layered them on a panel that I'd splattered with Shimmerz in the same 2 colors. (see the video for instructions) I wish you could see it in real life. Shimmerz is lovely, but you really can't capture it very well in photos!
Here is a close-up where I've tried!Back to the blog candy!
To be entered to win today, visit the Our Daily Bread site and then come back and let me know what your favorite Shimmerz color they carry is!
For another entry, come back tomorrow and comment on tomorrow's post!
Using random.org, I'll draw a winner on Thursday (March 19th) after my TOPS meeting.
Amy is also helping celebrate the ODBD anniversary today with a great tutorial using the Scor-Pal. Be sure to visit her as well! There is lots of fun going on all week and then a fun surprise on Tuesday, March 17th. Visit the ODBD blog to find out more!
Thanks for stopping by today. I'll see you tomorrow!

Divine Design for March

It's time for Divine Design! This venture was started by my sweet friend Lori over a year ago. The concept was simple and we've kept it that way. Chose a scripture that has touched you and make it into a card or other project. I started making these 6x6 scrapbook pages and am filling some cute little 6x6 albums. It's such a joy to go back and look at the album and remember the times where a particular Bible verse inspired and strengthened me.
That brings me to my verse for this month.

"The Lord is faithful; and HE will strengthen and protect you."
~2 Thessalonians 3:3

He is SO faithful. Through every trial and every temptation, HE is faithful. There are several places in the Bible where He reminds us of that. I think it's because we need the reminder, don't you?My project is SO simple this month. Mainly out of necessity as I've got some major deadlines looming. In fact, I didn't even stamp! But, you know what? That's okay!
The verse is diecut from a 12x12 sheet of scriptures and quotes. The bow was a trick I learned from my friend,
Jami! And there is a reason I chose this rose paper. I've been working on a project with Katie's teacher and roses are part of the theme. My dear sweet hubby had a memory of a designer paper with roses. He was so obsessed with the memory that he searched high and low through my stamp room trying to find this sheet of paper he was remembering. We finally came across this sheet of rose paper. He was thinking it was pink, but admits this may be it. It won't work for the other project, but it fit right into my color scheme here. And I will always look at this page and remember my hubby's search! LOL
My friends Lori, Taylor, Nancy and Jami, will also be posting their scripture projects today. I hope you will join us. If you post on Splitcoast, use the keyword BVC09 so we can find your project and comment! If you have a blog and want to spread the word about Divine Design, remember you can also add the Divine Design button to your sidebar!
Thanks for visiting. Be sure to check back tomorrow.
We're starting the ODBD BIRTHDAY celebration! I can't wait! It's going to be
FUN!!!

God's Beauty

I love this new hostess set called "God's Beauty" from the SU catty! It was my favorite from all of the levels I think. This is another card that really came together nicely once I had the sketch and stamps in hand. The colors were my son's suggestion.
The sketch is from this week's Card Positioning Systems. I love that you can always find their current sketch located on the sidebar of their site! Makes life a little easier!
I've got some design work calling my name (quite loudly!). But, I'll be back on Monday with my Divine Design project!
Have a great weekend!

Birthday Mojo

I do love those Verve sketches!
I needed a card for a dear sweet far away friend so when I saw this Mojo Monday sketch, I pulled out my Verve stamps and pulled this card together pretty quick! One thing really did lead to another!

I chose the Sweet Always designer papers from Stampin Up which reminded me of the "With Gratitude" Cuttlebug folder. And when I pulled out my orange ribbons to match the pumpkin in the DP, this flowered ribbon nearly
jumped right into my hand.
The sketch shows a row of pierced holes before and after the sentiment, but I went with a simple scored line instead. I've really been getting
some use out of my Scor-Pal. It's never far from reach!
One of my butterflies is paper pieced and popped up and the other colored with Shimmerz!
The birthday greeting is a rub-on, but it perfectly matched the "true friend" sentiment from Simple Friendship. I used my scotch tape trick and chose just the word "friend" from that stamp and added it to my butterfly panel. A few punched tiny flowers (using that same Michael's $1 bin punch I've been overusing lately) and some pearls and this card was in the mail to reach it's far away destination.
I hope my friend likes it!

Accordian Fold with Serenity Prayer

Today I made a card I made for a friend who's feeling a little down. The Serenity Prayer is perfect for such an occasion, don't you think? I'm glad Our Daily Bread Designs made this into a rubber stamp. And for $5.50, it really is a MUST HAVE for your stamp collection.
Instead of the regular fold, I thought I would try something a little different today. So, I made this card into an Accordion Fold card. The easy instructions are available at the Scor-Pal website.
Here is a photo of the back panel of the card with the Serenity Prayer. Those flowers are from another ODBD set called "Sing to the Lord".
If you've never bought a stamp set from Our Daily Bread Designs, there are a few things you may not know. Kelley sells her stamps in either wood-mounted or smart cushion mounted to be used on your own acrylic blocks. The smart-cushioned stamps come on a plastic sheet inside a clear box. They are quality rubber and are already nicely trimmed. You don't have to cut them out yourself! I love that!
Take a look for yourself!

Thank you for stopping by!
I'll be back tomorrow!

Nugget BDAY Box

My daughter sometimes asks me to make a friend or teacher something for their birthday. I think this little nugget box would be perfect! What do you think?
The template is available at Splitcoast as well as the Scor-Pal website. I used both actually to help me wrap my head around the idea. It really wasn't hard though. I may make a few more to have on hand as they could easily be decorated later!
I may go back and make that a capitol B on B-Day. What do you think?
Have a blessed day!
Thank you for visiting me today!

Pearls & Lace?

I needed some Sympathy cards this week. I wish I didn't.
It did help me get my mind off things a little while I was making them. But, they ended up being so frilly, I'm just not sure what to think. I usually try to make my sympathy cards pretty simple with few embellishments. As you can see, that didn't happen here.
I used Taylor's Weekly Cupcake Sketch to start me off. A fabulous sketch. Definitely a keeper! As you can see, the second card is a little different. I went with a Thinking of You in case I decided to make a more subdued Sympathy card later. It's really beginning to sink in that March will be a very busy month. There is lots going on for me and lots of fun stuff planned as Our Daily Bread Designs celebrates their one year birthday. We'll start the fun next week, so stick around!
I'll be back!

New Release Day!

March always seems to sneak up on me and this year is no exception!
So, here it is March 1st! And you know what that means! Our Daily Bread releases more fabulous sets with wonderful scriptures and perfect images to go with them!
We've got 2 sets being released today.
"You are the Potter" and the Serenity Prayer". You've seen sneak peeks for both of these this week. But here are the actual sets:

And did you know Our Daily Bread Designs celebrates their one year anniversary this month? That means it's celebration time and we'll be starting that very soon. You won't want to miss the festivities!
I've made another card to share with you today.
I started out with Jen's "Sketch For You to Try" and my 6x6 Basic Grey paper pad- Cupcake as my inspiration.
Here is the end result: I used the "You are the Potter" set along with a combination of 2 of the scriptures... easy to do with a little scotch tape covering the part of the verse you don't want to use before inking up! The paper piercing is done using an Ornare template available from ODBD. I love Ornare templates and have several more on my wish list!!
If you've got some time, be sure to visit the rest of the Our Daily Bread DT... their links are on my sidebar. LOTS of wonderful inspiration!
Have a blessed week!

Above & Beyond Challenged!

Continuing where I left off yesterday...
More Challenges & More Inspiration!
I've got 2 more matching cards to share today.

The first used the Splitcoast Weekly Sketch. One of my favorite things to do is play with my punches and layer them up! I actually cut out the middle flowers though... no punch to fit!

And for this next card in the set, I used Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge sketch which was actually hosted by my sweet friend, Lori Craig this week. Just Celery and Saffron, but I like it!

Not a lot of chit chat today... it's time to go to church!
Hope you're all having a blessed weekend!
