Weekend in Review

I was away from the house and my computer most of the weekend. So, I have no projects to share yet today.

Our weekend however, was eventful.
On Saturday, Kevin and I took our sweet 16 year old to Atlanta and put her on a plane to Kansas for her spring break. She's staying with her best friend Caitlin.

I'm going to miss her like crazy!
It's just me and Kevin for the week in an empty nest.

Kevin and I stopped at the JCPenney Outlet Center and the Tanger Outlet on the way home.
We shopped our little hearts out.

My godbabies needed jammies and I was on a mission. (I love having a mission.)We ended up purchasing 27 pair of pajamas. Some for now and some for later of course. But most of those were from Carters at a little over $3 a pair! At The Children's Place we found prices from 49 cents up. We didn't spend more than $4 on much of anything. Besides the twins, we bought some clothes for some of the other children in our lives too. We had a ton of fun.
At church on Sunday, my "little Punkin" Ashton

had his baby dedication and we were there.
After church, we spent the afternoon with our adopted family. I didn't take pics, but I do have a couple that their mom sent me.

She's absolutely adorable.
I nickname all the babies in my life, and I call this gorgeous baby "Precious".
I love kids!!

Fact #67

I hate all bugs.... but, especially JUNE BUGS!

And there is a funny story about June Bugs I can tell you.
Once when my hubby and I were first married (22 years ago) he was driving down the street and I was in the passenger seat. He says I started screaming, "Help...Pull the car over!!" He thought I was hurt or something. He pulled over as fast as he could and I jumped out of the car still screaming. The problem was there was a "gigantic" June Bug in the car and I am deathly afraid of those things. They are creepy and make noise and I have NO idea why God created them. They just creep me out!
Kevin was a bit upset with me for almost getting us in a car accident because of a bug! But he tells this story often and it does seem a bit funny all of these years later.

After googling June Bug images, I decided a picture of bugs was not necessary for this fact. So, I played around in Photo Shop and made this...

I am incredibly forgetful.
It's getting worse as the months and years go by. I am going to have to make me a "Brain Book" like Peg's to carry around because tying a string around my finger will NOT work. I'll just forget why it's there!
I know there are vitamins and supplements that are supposed to help with this dilemma. Anyone have any idea if these really help?
I also found a few websites online that offer some mind exercises and games. I do think keeping your mind busy and "trained" is important. A friend of mine does crossword puzzles just for this reason. She's pretty sharp, so it may actually work!

Yes, I know this is my second fact today. I am posting tomorrow's fact today!
I'll tell you why in a second!

I LOVE Paper Crafting Magazines!
And I look at them over and over again! I have a ton, but whenever I go somewhere that I know I'll be sitting and waiting I just grab a few on my way out the door and it's as if I've never seen them before! If I have lots of time to kill, I'll read the articles, but more often I just look at all of the pretty pictures! I usually buy them with my Michael's or Hobby Lobby coupon.

BUT, I just received an email about a great sale on lots of idea books that I just HAD to share. There are lots of great magazines and books (such as the one pictured) on clearance for only $1.99 at Oh My Crafts!

Stamping Easy

Good morning! I woke up at 5:00 am with an idea in my head that wouldn't go away, so here I am posting the idea come alive at 7:30.
I am still not tired of playing with my "Light of the World" set from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I keep telling Kelley how much I LOVE this set. I am NOT kidding. And wait until you see what else she has in store for you and I. Her concept of an image along with a handful of scriptures to go along with it is BRILLIANT! And I know there is a niche for it.
When I was at Target the other day, I found these plain red "Hot Hues" notecards and envelopes on clearance. [Well..... it was plain red anyway.] I used my Paper Studio border punch along the bottom and then my Fiskars "Cloud" scissors to make the scalloped edge. Then I ran it through my Cuttlebug with the "Swiss Dots" embossing folder {my first time sing this folder, but certainly NOT my last.... I LOVE it!}. For the verse, I simply stamped off with Rose Red (not a perfect match, but close) using the SU Musical Score background and then the verse with Palette Black Noir ink, punched it out with an oval punch and then mounted it onto a black scalloped oval punch. The Hobby Lobby sheer dotted ribbon adds the finishing touch.
{I took a picture of the scrap piece of paper I used to punch out my black scalloped oval.... just to show you how seriously I use my scraps! This is a leftover piece of black cardstock from a Set Sampler Header back when I was a Stampin Up demonstrator! Yes, there is a hole in the middle of the punched out piece, but I covered it and nobody will ever see it. If I didn't use my scraps like I do.... quite simply, I would NOT be able to afford this craft.}

I have an interest in (amateur) graphic arts although I have not pursued this avenue as much as I would like. For years, I have played with my Print Artist program and loved it. This year, I graduated to Photo Shop Elements since I asked for and got it for Christmas. It's just SO hard for an old dog to learn new tricks. I need to spend the time to play and learn! And when I do, I think I will be digital scrapbooking before long. It intrigues me!

Today's Sketch

Today's Splitcoast sketch intrigued me and when I got home from my doctor's appointment today I decided I had the time to try it. Now, I just need to make the time to figure out how to put a watermark on my designs. Help?

LIGHT Journal

I LOVE my "Light of the World" set from Our Daily Bread Designs... perfect for a journal. This will be a wonderful book to record the opportunities God gives to be a LIGHT!
I've been wanting to share this journal with you for days now. But of course, it was necessary to complete it first! I think I worked on this project a few minutes at a time for DAYS.....the whole time Peggy was here and then up until today when I finally completed it! Have you ever had one of "those" projects?

I started out with a large black and white composition book.
Here are the products used:

I get car sick easily.
I know better than to take my eyes off the road when we're traveling! Especially on long twisting turning roads! Oh..... please don't ask me to look at a map. LOL
I try to always sit in the front seat as sitting in the back seat on road trips makes me nauseous!
(Nope..... I absolutely don't do roller coasters!)

The Week in LP Review! (Long Post/Lotsa Pics)

Where do I start? We had so much fun this last week when my best friend Peggy and our 3 amazing godchildren were here! I thought I would post a week of pics in review. But I don't know if Blogger will be crazy about how many pics I want to post. We'll see......

The week started with me flying out to DC so I could drive down here with Peg and the kids to be some help on the road. Here I am playing with the babies in their "toy pit". It sure looks bigger when I am not in it!
On the road.....

It was a 15 hour trip.
The babies and Zach did very well.
Katie was so excited to see us..... well, the babies anyway!

We arrived one day early on Thursday as the radar looked a bit scary for Friday. Kevin had to work on Friday(our Pajama day!), but he hurried home in time to feed the babies by 5!

We cooked out several times while Peg was here!

We also went out to eat at my favorite BBQ place....Sonny's!

On Sunday we went to church...

And then came home with our kids we keep on Sundays. Then it was race time! We bought the twins (#8/Dale Jr) racing outfits to watch the race with Kevin!We had a long day. It was fun, but boy were the babies tired!Monday was St Patty's day!And Peg and I went to this renovated Georgia homestead made into a spa called The Veranda. Courtesy of Peggy, (thank you, BFF!) we had pedicures done by 2 sweet girls named Tiffany and Shelly. Peggy chose a cool blue ("You Gotta Have This Blue") and I had a hot shade of pink ("India Mood for Love").Later that evening, we played "Boxers to Briefs".... a highly recommended FUN game. Faith did not want to go to bed so stayed up a little longer than Brandon. She was okay after a dose of Tylenol, some teething gel and a kiss from mom.
On Tuesday, we drove to Atlanta to see Coca Cola World. {Peg is an avid Coke collector with an awesome red Coca Cola kitchen.}

Faith was not exactly excited when I put her in this guy's mixing bowl. Sorry, Faith.We had a quiet day at home on Wednesday.
I played with Peg's Cricut a bit.
Zach took a bubble bath. And of course, we played with the babies!

Peg's last day was pretty much reserved for packing and such. Peg and I did sneak away for a little shopping. AND Zach and I had our traditional outing for ice cream. Something we try to do each time we're together!
After dinner on the grill, Zach and I played games and Kevin and Zach made S'mores!

We had the best week! The twins were the perfect age for this visit. They were SO much fun.I didn't have much time for crafting and stamping, but I hope to do lots more of that THIS week!
