Tagged........

I have been tagged by my BFF Peg of Webbmania.

The Rules:
1. Link the person(s) who tagged you
2. Mention the rules on your blog
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
4. Tag 6 fellow bloggers by linking them
5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged

My Quirks:

1. I hate it when I can hear a TV AND a radio or when two things that make noise are on at the same time.

2. I am really funny about food staying out too long and the chance of it spoiling. This makes buffets and potlucks unappealing to me as well.

3. I can't stand bad smells or really strong smells. ~I've got a sensitive sniffer.

4. I can't stand it when someone tries to get my attention by saying "Pssst....". {KEVIN}

5. I really hate to be startled or scared. And my hubby used to make it his mission! Seriously! One time in the early years of our marriage he got up and got ready for work and then snuck back in the house and hid in the closet for HOURS until I opened the closet door.

6. I don't like it when people call me Angie. Or April. (Where do they get April???? It happens ALL of the time!)

I will tag 6 of my blog buddies Kelly, Amy, Patti, Deborah, Tracy and Michelle.

"Go Tell Your Mom"

My son, Brian is touring the country this summer as part of one of his school's Camp Teams. He is having a lot of fun. This week he is all of the way across the country from his momma. He is in Los Angeles, California! Before they hit the road they recorded this little video to show on the trip. It's a parody of the James Blunt song "You're Beautiful". My daughter found it on You Tube so I am showing it on my blog.

The moving company will be here starting today and through to the end of the week. So I will be scarce.
Have a great week!

Monday Movie Review

Katie and I cashed in more Coke rewards points this week and headed to Blockbuster. We picked out "Bella" and "August Rush".

Bella

PLOT:
Sooner or later every one of us will face an irreversible moment that will change our lives forever. If it hasn't happened to you yet...it will. BELLA is a true love story about how one day in New York City changed three people forever.

{Website here.}

Angel's Five Star Review:

ONE Star *~ Although this movie received many awards and great reviews, it just never picked up for me. It had a good message, but could have been delivered much better in my opinion.

Katie's Opinion:

Katie gives this movie a 2 on a scale of one to ten. It wasn't to her liking.

August Rush

PLOT:
A drama with fairy tale elements, where an orphaned musical prodigy uses his gift as a clue to finding his birth parents.

{Trailer here.}

Angel's Five Star Review:
Four and a half Stars ****1/2
This was another great family movie that both Katie and I enjoyed.

Katie's Opinion:
Katie gives this movie a 7. She says: "It was a good movie, but she didn't like the ending so much."

I want to thank those of you who left some movie recommendations last week. I will definitely be renting some of those selections! Any more?

Nite Nite Time

Weekend Plans

Guess what we are up to this weekend?

These 2 adorable little guys are staying with us so their mom {who works with Kevin} can get some packing done. Their names are Connor and Brody and so far they've been little angels. These 16 month old twins are taking a nap right now, so I am going to get a few things done.
Later!

Red Bird

This card was so very simple to make. Mostly because I used this fabulous gigantic label and gorgeous DP from Daisy D's. My bird is stamped off in Ruby Red in the back and the verse added on top in Palette Black. A black organdy ribbon with an added jeweled pin really make this an elegant look I think.
{ Thank you, Amy, for giving me the idea to make my own jeweled pins using corsage pins and beads from Michael's. }
In between babysitting gigs, I've been stamping away trying to get ahead on some of my commitments before most of my things get packed next week. My blog will be a little slow for the next month or so, but I hope you'll all come back and check in occasionally!

Card Recipe:
Stamps~ Sing to the Lord (ODBD)
Ink~ Ruby Red, palette Black
Paper~ Naturals Ivory, DP by Daisy D's
Accessories~ Daisy D's label, Corsage pin and beads, Border Punch -The Paper Studio, Black Organdy (SU)

Monday Movie Review

I've decided to add a new weekly feature on my blog. And I'm hoping some of you will do the same! If you're like me, you will pass by a movie on the shelf just because the cover doesn't look good. I am sure I've watched many a bad movie because the cover DID look good and missed a good movie on account of some bad artwork!
I'd love some recommendations for good movies from you as well. Let me know in the comments section, if you've seen a good movie lately!
Just so you'll know my tastes, I'll tell you that I like a fairly clean movie. Chick flicks are right up my alley. I am also fond of Super Hero movies, but too much action gives me a headache! I also like movies designed more for children (think Willy Wonka).
This last week, Katie and I cashed in some of Kevin's many Coke Rewards points and hit Blockbuster for 2 movies, 2 cokes and a bucket of popcorn- free!

We rented
Stardust

{In a countryside town bordering on a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm.}
Trailers here.

and The Ultimate Gift

{Jason thought his inheritance was going to be the gift of money and lots of it. Was he ever in for a big surprise...}
Website
here.

Angel's Five Star Review~
I really liked BOTH of these movies and highly recommend them. My favorite of the 2 was Stardust which had a great cast including Robert DeNiro and Michelle Pfeifer. It borders on Chick-flick status, but it had enough adventure that even Kevin liked the movie.
Stardust:
FIVE Stars *****
The Ultimate Gift:
Four and a half Stars ****1/2
AND
Katie's Opinion~
[on a scale of 1 to 10]
Great movies to see with your family!
Stardust: 8
The Ultimate Gift: 10

Sunday Sketch and Color Challenge

June 15th means a new sketch from "Am I a Scrap Addict?" This one was fun to work with. I used "Sing to the Lord" a must-have from Our Daily Bread which is available TODAY! YAY!
Kelley sent her design team these super
Prism Prismatic cardstocks this month along with a new color challenge. I love how these cardstocks have a textured side and a smooth side cuz "Sometimes you feel like texture and sometimes you don't." Sounds like an Almond Joy commercial, hey? I used the textured side on each layer. It inks up just as well as the smooth side too!
Katie is making me Perogies for lunch so once again I'll be delayed on the card recipe.
Have a great Sunday!

Card Recipe~
Stamps: Sing to the Lord (ODB)
Ink: Night of Navy
Paper: Prism cardstocks
Accessories: Fibers, beads, DD glitter

Dad's Day Weekend

It's going to be a busy Father's Day weekend here in the Wilde House. We are keeping our 2 little dimpled girls, Mayson and Kamryn for the weekend. Here are Kevin and Katie with the girls.
And I have finally gotten up the nerve to show you my short hair!
Here is me and Mayson.
Since I knew we were going to be so busy, I made sure my Father's Day cards were done early. I used the new Our Daily Bread set-Fishers of Men (available this weekend!) for my dad's card. It is on its way to Iowa.
Kevin's card uses Verve Visual's Father Figure and some of my favorite papers from SEI's Grandpa's Attic line. I also used Beate's weekend sketch! Card recipes will have to come later. I've gotta go play with my favorite 2 year old who is sitting here talking my ear off while I type!
Check back tomorrow. I will have my Scrap Addict sketch to share!
Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Fishing

I've scheduled some stamping time today. You'd think I would have plenty of time to just play, but I have to set aside the time or it just flies by! Anyone else have those issues?
Here is a card I made a couple of days ago with the other June 15th release from Our Daily Bread. This one is called "Fishers of Men" and it's perfect for masculine cards. I'm planning on using it for my Father's Day cards as well! Kelley has pictures on her website of the 2 new sets. You are gonna love them!!

Card Recipe:
Stamps~ Fishers of Men (ODB)
Ink~ Basic Brown, Choc Chip, Mellow Moss
Paper~ Vanilla, Choc Chip, Cosmo Cricket DP
Accessories~ Distresser
Hopefully I will have lots more to share soon.

Tornadoes

Doesn't it seem like tornadoes are more frequent than ever before? My younger son Brian is spending the summer touring the country on one of his school's camp teams. He called this morning to check in. He was the one who told me about the Manhattan, Kansas tornadoes.
Jake, Megan and their puppy, Trixie took shelter last night as tornadoes tore through their little town. Jake said a hardware store 2 blocks away was totaled. More news on the local newspaper's website reports that $20 million dollars of damage was done on K State's campus alone which is directly across the street from Manhattan Christian College where my two sons and daughter-in-law are all enrolled. I'm very thankful my children are all safe and I pray for those who have been affected by this devastation. May God carry you through the storm.

Divine Design

I'm so sorry that I am terribly late today in uploading my Divine Design post. We got a call for a house showing shortly after I woke up this morning. We had all relaxed this weekend and the house needed some desperate attention to bring it back to "showable". Then of course, Katie and I had to vacate the premises. We decided to go get a haircut. And we arrived back at home about an hour ago. The last hour which I have spent crying. I learned a valuable lesson today. BE CLEAR-CUT AND SPECIFIC with a new stylist and tell her what you DON'T want as well as what you do want. What I didn't want? To look like a boy.
It WILL grow out, it will grow out.....

Anyway, on to the project......
Card Recipe:
Stamps~ Sing to the Lord (ODB)
Ink~ Basic Grey, Palette Black
Paper~ Shimmery White CS, Black CS, Daisy D's DP
Accessories~ Cuttlebug "Diamonds in the Rough" folder, corner rounder, American Crafts grey satin ribbon, small square punch, primas and brads
I used a new set called "Sing to the Lord" on my page which will be available June 15th from Our Daily Bread. It features this beautiful little songbird on a blooming tree branch and 4 sweet scriptures to go along with it as well as an extra blooming branch. It's absolutely wonderful! I'll be showing you more with this set as the month unfolds!
Be sure to check out the lovely inspiring creations from my friends and fellow Scripture Chicks
Lori, Taylor, Nancy, and Jami. And please feel free to join us by uploading to your blog or sharing in the Splitcoast gallery using keyword BVC08.
Have a great day!

Divine Design Delay

I know it is the 8th of the month, but I am going to have to wait until tomorrow to unveil my Divine Design project as I am having a few difficulties with my software. So Sorry. Please do check back tomorrow. I hope to have a couple of things to share by then!

Happy Me!

I received this adorable RAK in the mail from Dawn Easton. Isn't it gorgeous? Thank you so much, Dawn. You made my day!
AND...... guess what? I took a pic of it with my new camera!!
I've been debating on what camera to buy for over a year now. I've looked at the Canon Rebel and drooled over the Nikon D40X, but both are really out of my price range at the moment. After much deliberation [and this recommendation from Trudee,] I purchased the Canon Power Shot S5IS and I am SO excited!

My old camera is going into the mail to my best friend, Peggy, who's camera I dropped. That is what spurred me into purchasing my Canon. :-)
Have a great day from little ol' Happy me!

Good News

Thank you for your prayers for my godbaby Brandon. God listened and answered! Brandon's MRI results came back normal and he will not have to have a shunt. The fluid should go away all on its own!

Praise God!

Meeting a Friend

Quite some time ago I stumbled onto a wonderful blog by a VERY talented and crafty designer- Amy Sheffer. Pickled Paper Designs always has the coolest cards and I try to check in daily. I am not sure when I realized that Amy lived quite close to my friend Peggy. But I just couldn't wait to meet her and we were actually able to meet this trip.Amy was so very sweet. I felt like I already knew her so well and and the time passed quickly away as we chatted like old friends.
She showed me some Copic tricks she recently learned in a local class. I'd started buying my own Copics one at a time with my Hobby Lobby coupons. I'm anxious to get more now so I can practice my recently acquired "skills".

Here is the card I finally completed today with the image I colored at Amy's house:Card Recipe:
Stamps~ Baby Buttercup (Stamping Bella); Noteworthy (SU)
Ink~ Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko), Gable Green, Palette Black Noir
Paper~ PaperTrey SS White, Pretty in Pink, The Paper Studio DP- Bella Pink Scroll
Accessories~ Cloud Scissors, corner rounder, ribbons, Copics, 2 way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter

Thank you so much for letting me spend the afternoon with you, Amy!

Card Recipe:
Stamps~ Sanded
Ink~ Pumpkin
Paper~ Pumpkin, Choc Chip, Basic Grey DP
