Sketchin' in Circles

This card was a bunch of fun. I have been wanting to make a Halloween type card with Circles and found Sara's Sketch #20 a great time to do it. I am bound and determined to finish Sara's Sketches. According to my notebook I have only 4 left to make. (I have another one not yet posted.)
Like I have said before I am not big on Halloween and don't want to buy a lot of stamps, but the DPs are so cute that I can't help but want to make some cards. So, my answer? I spent $1 on these Paper Studio Halloween stickers and got 2 sheets so I am sure to get a lot of mileage from them.

I've been busy getting my September cards ready to mail. What did you say? September is over? Yes, it just flew past me so I am having to send BELATED birthday cards and anniversary cards. Hopefully I will be better in October. :-)

BOO to YOU!

I wanted to get this Halloween card posted before my DD gets home from school and takes over the computer. I had a ton of fun making this card and just love how it turned out. Fun, Fun, Fun! I used Sara's Sketch #17 for this puppy. I used a "Faux Tearing" technique here. I'm sure there is a tutorial somewhere for it. If you don't think so, I can do one. But I myself don't care to see 10 tutorials on the same thing, so I'll wait. In a nutshell: You use a piece of paper torn in half, spread it apart about a 1/2 inch or so and sponge in between the halves, then you move it up to do the next "layer", etc.
Card Recipe:

Paper: Paper Trey's Stamper's Select white cardstock (the BEST), Basic Black, Vintage Violet, Pumpkin, Old Olive & DP from K&I Memories
Ink: Vintage Violet, Old Olive, Pumpkin
Accessories: Scalloped Circle punch, circle punch and CM circle cutting system, mini brads, fibers and "BOO" sticker from The Paper Studio with googly eyes added.

Butterfly in Distress

Well, actually it's just a very distressed butterfly. I got this beautiful butterfly image in the mail from Sandy at A Colourful World. She also sent a few other goodies including an awesome "A" magnet that I just {heart}!

This butterfly was so pretty, but I am not sure who makes it. I just know I couldn't wait to color it and make a card using it. I think this card is so pretty in real life. MY photography does it no justice. This card is my submission for Sara's Sketch #18!

Details, details- I drybrushed a bit of Buttercup colored Plaid acrylic paint onto a Garden Green card base that I also stamped with the "Sanded" background stamp. Butterfly was colored in with my blender pen using garden Green, Not Quite Navy and More Mustard ink pad lids. I then distressed the edges using the SU Cutter Kit and crinkled up the cardstock a lot! (Then I ironed it....heehee) It is mounted onto Not Quite Navy CS and then onto as strip of My Mind's Eye DP. Below that strip is Not Quite Navy peeking out. To this edge I added some "Terrifically Tacky Tape" (red tape) and added some beads- Art Accentz Treasure Beads in Golden Yellow. Sentiment from "So Grateful" was stamped in Not Quite Navy on a scrap of DP (?) and folded then stapled onto the main image panel. SU Celery narrow organdy ribbon tied in a bow finished it off.

I wasn't around much yesterday, but I managed to stamp a few other cards that I can't wait to share with ya! So, Y'all come back now, Ya hear?

A BIG Thanks

I absolutely LOVED the set- Think Big when it came out last year. I saw many, many cool cards on Splitcoast Stampers. Some of my favorites were from Texasjodylynn. I just HAD TO HAVE this set. And now, I am ashamed to say....this is the first time I have ever used it! That just goes to show you that I have TOO many stamp sets and I don't "need" any more!
I made this card yesterday using Sara's Sketch #15 and it came together very quickly. The main reason is because once again I used The Friends & Flowers Simply Scrappin' kit from Stampin' Up.

I am once again way behind on Thank You cards so you're going to be seeing a lot of those in the next few days!

Pierced Snowflake

I gotta admit. I was looking for a reason to paper pierce this gorgeous snowflake and when I saw Sara's Sketch #13, I knew it would be perfect.

This is my first Christmas card of the year. They've really been popping up a lot on other stamping blogs. I always admire people who start their Christmas planning early and are completely finished shopping by December 1st. Me? I am one of those who wait until Black Friday to start and then find myself not having the time to finish all my grand plans. And what about those people who shop all year long? I can't even think about Christmas until at least fall. So, here is my 1st Christmas card. Enough babbling already.

I made 3 cards yesterday! And I finished all my housecleaning, etc. I was pretty pleased with my day. I put my 3 new cards up on my bulletin board among other creations from days past. when my hubby got home I asked him if he could pick out the 3 cards I had made just that day. Do you think he could?

WELL.... He did! I was so happy. I gave him a bug hug and told him I was happy that he does pay attention.

4x4 Sketch

It's been a lovely day! I've been stampin away. Hmm... that sounds like the start of a poem or maybe I am going to break out in song. heehee Wouldn't that annoy my 16 year old daughter who just got home from school? Oh, yes it would!

I am going to make this post quick as my computer sounds like it's really trying hard to do something. And everything is closed except my blog window. What could it be trying to do?
I worked on more of Sara's sketches today so I decided to post one more this afternoon. This time I used Sara's Sketch #10. It was a square sketch so I decided to start out with a 4x4 card using a color combo I saw in the new Stampin' Up catalog.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: All I have Seen, Snap Stamps
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Almost Amethyst, So Saffron and Whisper White CS, SU Prints Sampler
Ink: Almost Amethyst, Wild Wasabi and Craft White Ink pads, Amethyst marker to add more color to the edge of the flower block image
Accessories: Stampamajig, Cutter Kit (SU) to distress paper edges and Sheer White Swirl Ribbon from May Arts (I got this at the scrapbook store by my friend Peg's house. Darn, I wish I would have gotten more than 1 yard!!!)

It's All Black and White

...with a pop of red.
And this is not a great picture, but had to do. I made this card for Sara's Sketch #21. I can't believe there are only 5 more left. I wish I knew how to make a sketch. The sketches Sara has provided really have given me motivation. Sketches give me a platform and that's where I love to start. Thanks, Sara!
This card measures 3x6- this is the size I used for most of my Christmas cards last year and I loved them. So, when I saw this sketch from Sara, I knew that's what size this card would be!

Details, details- Card base is Paper Trey's Stamper's Select White. I used my "So Swirly" jumbo wheel over the entire outside of the card. I rolled it in Palette Noir black ink. DP strip is from "Imaginisce"- Black Tie Optional (this double sided paper has the flowers in an opposite black and white pattern on the back- awesome DP!) Rose image is from Rubber Stamping Fun and is from an unreleased set. I received this as part of the Review Team. I have used it in previous posts- here, here and here. And I've used the sayings many many times! The only thing I would have changed about their stamps is to trim the rubber a little more closely. I have had a little trouble with the image giving a "shadow". I stamped the flower onto Basic Black with Kraft White ink and punched it out and mounted it onto a scalloped circle punch from SU Whisper White CS. I used my SU black marker to make dots along the scallops. Red ribbon is recycled from something (?) and the buttons (Keepsake Essentials)were a sweet gift from my sweet friend Chrystal.

Alrighty then... I am off to put in my 3 mile walk and then I plan on stamping up a storm! So....I'll be back!

Butterflies for Beate's Weekend Sketch

And I used them for the always wonderful Beate's weekend sketch! She's had 20 sketches for us so far! Keep 'em comin', Beate! I hope I can do them all. {Wink}

The kids are watching a movie and the baby is sleeping so I sneaked away for a few minutes to finish up my card and post it. I am not extremely excited about this card. I learned that you need a darker backing behind the pierced image for it to show up very well.... especially in a photo. But I had stuck these guys down very well and they were not coming up! Sorry for the not so great picture. I had to take it outside and get it at just the right angle.

Babysitting

I love babies. I sure wish I were a better photographer. This little one is so sweet. I love to snuggle with him. The manufacturers have perfected that baby smell. Haven't they? I think it's pure bliss to cuddle with a baby.














Here is little Ashton at almost 1 month old. He weighs about 9 pounds and has big hands for a little guy.
I practically have to pry him out of Katie's arms. She takes after me I guess.

Jeweled Butterfly

It's such a pretty day outside. I think it may have been in the 70s all day! We've been staying much warmer than that, so even though I have been enjoying the autumn colors in Blogland and in my decorated house, it didn't feel like fall outside. It's headed our way I do believe. It may be here this weekend. hahaha
I started stamping this afternoon and decided to pull out my Friends & Flowers Simply Scrappin kit- a gift from a sweet forever friend- Lori. I hadn't played with this kit yet. Why? I have no idea! I love the colors. So sweet!

Details, details- I started out paper piercing this cool butterfly on So Saffron with a Paisley background of the same color. I added jewels to the thorax of the butterfly and mounted this piece on Choc Chip. DP and corner embellishments are also for the SS Kit. I used my scalloped scissors on a strip of the DP. The Tres Chic background is stamped in Certainly Celery on Certainly Celery cardstock (my very last piece... I have only scraps left....boohoo!!). Forever Friends is from Hampton Art Stamps and is stamped in Choc Chip.

This is Sara's Sketch #19- today's sketch! I'm off to finish Beate's Sketch too. Katie, Kevin and I are babysitting Ashton and his big brother and sister tomorrow. It'll be fun to have a baby to play with all day so I don't know how much blogging or stamping I'll get done.

Be Strong

Hello Friends! Happy Thursday! I've been stamping.....
I do not think I will catch up to Sara now. That's a given. But I did go back and stamp Sketch #7! When it was all finished I realized I did not get it right. There is supposed to be another layer in the bottom right corner. Phooey! I debated adding the layer, but I think I like it just like it is. I hope Sara will still count it. heehee

And, What a great scripture!
I went to Bible study this morning and we talked about grace. It had been on my mind all week and I had even made this card about grace. Ironic, huh? God is so on time and if you look for Him, He's there. He can show Himself to you in little moments like these. have you ever been outside and saw a beautiful sunset that just seemed to be glowing? Or something else remarkable like that? God made that for you. He is the Maker of all things good. And nope.... He will never fail you! Oops.... didn't mean to preach. I have 2 sons in Bible college to be preachers so I guess I think I can too. Not! heehee

Criss Cross Baby Card

A couple of weeks ago my best friend and I were talking and she mentioned that she planned on ordering some invitations online for a baby shower she and another girl were planning. I said, "WHAT? Your best friend makes cards and you're going to spend $45 on invitations? Are you crazy?" Obviously she didn't order those invitations. I whipped up this criss-cross card for her instead. Her version had the shower info instead of the sentiment and used Certainly Celery in the place of the Blue Bayou here. They're in the mail on their way. I LOVE the criss cross card. The ONLY thing I dislike is how much cardstock (and adhesives) it takes to make one. That is exactly why I was so happy when I stumbled onto Heather's blog- "Creative Bug". She created a criss cross card using less cardstock. Sadly, I had already made my 20 shower invitations before I found Heather's version. Oh, well.

A Timely Challenge

I AM ON TIME for a challenge! Today's Splitcoast Color Challenge was to use Really Rust, Chocolate Chip and the new River Rock. I spent lots of time digging through my 12x12 papers looking for just the right DP. I found a couple I liked and then ended up not even using them. Gee Whiz! I wish I could have that time back. Know what I mean?
I also encompassed Sara's Sketch #14 with this design. Yeah! A double whammy! I like the sound of that a lot better than killing 2 birds with one stone....that sounds harsh!

I Missed It!

Yesterday was my Aunt Anna's birthday. I kept reminding myself all day to call her when I got a chance. Suddenly it is the next day and sadly, I never called her. I was named after this wonderful woman and so was my daughter (middle names). SHE is the queen when it comes to anything handmade. She is an amazing cook and she can craft like nobody's business. She never had any children of her own and it was such a blessing when Katie was born and she and my uncle agreed to be her godparents. They are amazing godparents too! Just ask Katie! So, if you read my blog today, Aunt Anna, please know that I am so sorry I missed your birthday. Here is your card! (If only I could wish my cards to their recipients instead of mailing them..... then they'd be on time!)

This card encompasses the Splitcoast Color Challenge for last week- Purely Pomegranate, Always Artichoke and Taken with Teal. I wasn't going to do the challenge, but Katie liked the color combo so I went ahead. I also used Sara's Sketch #9. I know it seems like I'm going backwards, but I'm not. I'm just out of order.

Details, details- I love this retired Definitely Decorative Ferns set from SU. I first inked it in Mellow moss and then stamped off just so I would have an all-over light color and then used daubers in the three colors tapping the ink all over the image so I got this mottled look. I stamped it on a Shimmery White and then used my air art tool with a Mellow Moss marker.

Victoria Candy!

This morning I read on Courtney's blog about Victoria- a young middle school girl with cancer. Victoria's teacher is giving her a map and Victoria will be able to mark on her map the places she receives cards from. Her teacher hopes she'll get them from all over the world, but especially from each of the fifty states. I don't know about your state, but she is gettin' one from Georgia! I challenge you along with Courtney to send this young girl a card AND to say a prayer for her. I have no idea what Victoria's prognosis is, but I know God loves her and I know prayer WORKS! You can read more at Courtney's blog here. Courtney has some blog candy as a drawing for those who send a card. I would like to add a prize to that cause as well. I hope Courtney doesn't mind, but I would like to copy her idea. Comment on this post to let me know AFTER you have sent Victoria a card and I will put your name in a drawing for this small Image Tree Alphabet stamp set!

This card is my take on Sara's Sketch #12. I am really enjoying Sara's sketches and I figure if I post 2 a day, I may just catch up (I am doing them out of order).

Sweet Grace

I just want to share this card with you. I made it yesterday. Hubby was watching the race and then the game. (The Chargers did not win last night even though I stayed up and rooted for them.) So, I stamped a bit. I didn't work on my project yesterday as I am waiting for my Soft Sky paper to arrive. I LOVE Soft Sky! So, instead I tried out Sara's Sketch #11.

Details, details: All DP is from MME. Scripture from 12x12 sheet from Crossed Paths. Cardstock is Choc Chip. Aged copper brads on distressed punched circles of DP on primas that have been distressed with Choc Chip ink. Pink stitched chocolate ribbon from May Arts (I think).

I enjoyed this sketch very much. Hopefully I can catch up with Sara! I think I've got lots of mojo going today so I am going to get going and walk my 2 miles so I can get started!

Beate's Weekend Sketch

I needed a break from the project I am working on so I had a look at Beate's weekend sketch. And I decided to give it a go.

Not long ago I received an RAK in the mail from Jillian aka Jillabella. She sent me some Bella images along with a beautifully stamped Flowahbella card. Now.... I was a Bella virgin. I don't mean that to sound rude or vulgar either. I had just never used a Bella before. I have admired them from afar and decided that was one door I should leave closed. The Bellas seemed to be something you could definitely get hooked on. Know what I mean? WELL.... I am no longer a Bella virgin. And here's my card to prove it!

Details, details- Card base is Purely Pomegranate. Other cardstock used was Choc Chip, whisper white and Pumpkin. I used my blender pen and ink pad lids to color in the Cakeabella image. All DP is from Me & My Big Ideas "Chester" collection. I punched a flower from the DP and ran it through my "X" upside down and adhered it to the clear button adding embroidery floss to knot. This sits on top of a very pretty Pomegranate colored Prima - a so sweet gift from Lia all the way from Singapore! Wish Big (punched in the Word Window Punch) and the flower (Craft White ink) in the background are from Short & Sweet. I distressed some card edges for depth. Other Accessories: Scallop Scissors, Oval punch and Scalloped Oval Punch.

The Bella was lots of fun to play with. Jillian sent me several so I won't need to hurry and buy one....yet. I better get my desk cleaned off.

With Sympathy

I am thinking of my friend Peggy today who will be attending her grandmother's funeral. This is the card I sent to her. She has already received it so it's okay to post it now. Peggy usually sees the cards I send her before she receives them, so I decided to send this one first.

Details, details- I incorporated two challenges with this card. Last week's Limited Supply Challenge and Beate's weekend sketch last weekend. It was an easy card, but I do love it. Stamps- Petal Prints, Linen, Warmest Regards; Ink- Choc Chip, River Rock, Blue Bayou, Soft Sky; Cardstock- Same as ink plus Whisper White; Accessories- CM Circle Cutting System, Scalloped Oval Punch, American Crafts Chocolate grosgrain, SU Hodgepodge hardware and paper Piercing tool.

Wedding Pics

Look at these gorgeous pictures!!! This is my son and his new bride. They've already been married 1 month. I love these photographs! I stole them off of Jake's Facebook. But there are 1,197 more pictures! Jake is sending me 6 discs full! I can't wait to see the rest of them. Megan was truly the most beautiful bride I have ever seen. Her mother made her gown and she made her own jewelry from some of her great grandmother's beads. They sparkled and so did she. I cried again looking at the pictures. I don't know how I'll act when my baby girl gets married. They'll probably need to medicate me. LOL
I am busy working on a commissioned project and it's turning out so cute. I can't wait to show you! I completely ran out of Certainly Celery and Soft Sky cardstock so I will have to reorder some quickly. And I'll have to start stockpiling the Soft Sky. I didn't do that with Cool Caribbean and now I am sorry. Anyone else?

A Challenge of 5

This was NOT an easy task, but the challenge Sandy gave us was to include five stamped images, 5 DPs, 5 pieces of ribbon, 5 buttons and five flowers AND the number 5. So, I did. It's not at all what I envisioned, but it looks like this will make the perfect card for a little girl's fifth birthday. :-)

There are too many products and I can't remember what DPs and ribbons are which as many of them are scraps, so no details or recipe today.

Hubby is on leave for the rest of this week, but he brought work home and is using the computer. I am not sure how much time I will have to be on here, but I'll be busy stamping and taking pictures of my projects to share with you all. Have a great day!

Triple Dose

My third post of the day! I'm staying busy stamping so I might as well share my creations with you. Right?
This is another card for my gift set. I decided to stamp a more masculine birthday card for the set as well. I used another Sara Sketch. This one is #5! If you're keeping track, you'll know that I have only #7 and #9 left! I think I can do this!

Using Sara's sketches is really helping me make my gift set. And I don't have to think about colors since I am using these blues and greens. It's coming together nicely!

Seeing Stars

I started this card yesterday so it came together pretty quickly today. Not one of my favorite cards ever, but it suits the purpose. I needed a "Congratulations" type card for the set I am doing for my friend AND I wanted to complete Sara's Sketch #8 and this is what evolved.

Details, details- Scraps of DP from the MME Kaleidoscope DP collection I have been using were adhered to an Onboard Chipboard star from SU with Mod Podge. I allowed that to dry and then sanded the edges. I definitely need one of those Basic Grey Precision File Kits for something like this! (Click on the product for a review by Julia Stainton!) Circles of Brilliant Blue and Cool Caribbean were cut out with my CM Circle and Oval Cutter (I {Heart} my cutter!) Hooray comes from More Great Greetings (an oldie but a goodie from SU!) Star background is from Background Basics. Both stamped in brilliant Blue. Card base is Green Galore. Star eyelets came from an eyelet split long ago!

I think I may be back again today! Hmmmm.

Mosaic Caribbean

Good Morning! What's new? I've got lots to share with you and I am trying to spread it out a little, but it's becoming difficult to do that AND catch up with Sara! heehee

I am still working on that set of cards for my friend and I'm trying to keep them all in a certain color set. You'll remember that it's a blue and green combination. When it came time to make an anniversary card in those colors, I gotta tell you, I was stumped! But I was finally able to come up with something! What do you think?
I went all the way back to Sara's Sketch #1 for this sketch. And I dusted off a very old, but still pretty juicy Caribbean Sea Kaleidacolor ink pad!

Details, details- Card base is black. A Divine Swirls cuttlebugged Cool Caribbean layer is mounted onto Whisper White. I punched out the large oval and stamped Happy Anniversary (Stampendous) here. Now, I didn't have a stamp that actually fit here so I used my Stampamajig and made THIS:

stamp work. So, Yes, Tracy, I think the Stampamajig is a good investment. It's like having more stamps in your closet! The "Mosaic Heart" stamp (OLD Stampin UP set) is stamped onto glossy white with Palette Noir black which has been brayered with the Caribbean Sea KPad. And the strip is Soft Swirls also in the same KPad.

Bold Blocks

Good Morning, Friends! Surprisingly, I woke up feeling very refreshed this morning and full of energy (that doesn't usually happen)! I am ready to face the day. And, it looks to be a busy day, so I am posting early. I also have a couple of RAKs to post later, so I'll be back with that in a bit. For now, here is my take on Sara's Sketch #4. I'm not doing them in order, but I am doing them. {wink}

Details, details- This is another card for my friend so I am following a certain color scheme so they all "match". I kinda wish I had turned one of those leaves on it's side and I still may attempt to do that. Card base is Paper Trey Stamper's Select White. This lovely "Rubber Stampede" leaf was a Clearance find at HL for less than $2! And I LOVE it. The leaves are stamped in Brilliant Blue on MME Kaleidoscope DP. It was a wide striped paper so all of the squares are from the same sheet. Those are mounted onto Whisper White and then a Brilliant Blue strip. "With Sympathy" is from Close to Comfort stamped in Brilliant Blue. Then I simply paper pierced a line.

So far I have 2 Sympathy, 2 Generic Birthday, 2 Get Well, and 2 Thinking of You cards in the set. What else should I include?

I'm So Dizzy...

"My head is spinning..." Oh, sorry, those lyrics have been in my head ever since I showed my daughter this card and she said it was making her dizzy. Did I get them stuck in your head now too? And don't tell me you've never heard the song. I don't want to feel old. heehee

This card fulfills Sara's Sketch #6 . I still have a few left, but I'm getting there.

Details, details- Card base is YoYo Yellow (a neglected color here in my craft room) and other CS includes Brilliant Blue and Whisper White. I used DPs from My Mind's Eye Kaleidacolor collection. Eyelets are set (rather imperfectly) with the Cropadile. If you have tips for me on setting eyelets with this tool I'd love to hear them. I didn't have an arrow so I traced one and cut it out. Other items used- word window punch, "Much Appreciated" stamp set.

I'm in the process of making a set of cards for a friend's birthday. I want to make cards that could be masculine or feminine and this is my choice for a Thank You card for the set. I'll be posting the other cards for the gift set this week. I hope she doesn't visit my blog. heehee

Sunday Sketch

It's a lazy Sunday afternoon. Hubby is watchin his team play football. Go Chargers! Hey... when hubby's happy, everybody's happy!
And me... well, I've been stampin! Here is my card for Sara's Sketch #2. (I am determined to catch up!)

Details, details: It was a fun sketch so I started with a fun quote. This vellum quote comes from a DCWV "Love & Friendship" Quote Stack. The card is wider than a normal card at 6 1/4" x 4 1/4". Card base is Regal Rose. Other CS- Basic Black and Sage Shadow. All DPs are from SEI "Penelope's Potpourri" line. Punches, Primas and Making Memories pewter brads.... pretty easy.

Hey, I may have time to make Sketch #1 today!

A Sweet Saturday

I'm just home from "Freedom Fest" and Chris Tomlin as well as Starfield in concert. It was great music and lots of fun. Here is a picture of me and my friend Shelley enjoying the outdoor event. Shelley and I live a few miles from each other here in Georgia. In fact, we lived about the same distance apart in Kansas. And we moved here at the same time! Quite the coincidence? Well, "A coincidence is when God performs a miracle and decides to remain anonymous." I love that saying!

Here is a new picture of Shelley's baby boy, Ashton (2 wks old) with my hubby holding him. I love to see Kevin holding a baby. He has large hands and babies look so small in his arms. He LOVES babies. We can't have anymore, but someday we'll be grandparents. Not anytime soon my son and his wife assure me. They, too love babies. So, we'll have to see.

Hubby is still at the concert helping tear down the stage. That's why I am up this late!

On to stamping... I recently found Sara's blog and I am really enjoying her sketches. She's offering a sketch a day until her birthday- 27 sketches in all. There are some cool sketches too. Go visit her blog if you like sketches to get your mojo going. I plan on doing them ALL to help celebrate with her. I started with Sketch #3 and came up with this green card. I have had this quote sitting on my desk waiting to be used and today seemed like the perfect time to use it. Don't you love it? This is my advice to my children.

Details, details- I'll keep it Simple cuz it's LATE! Card base is Gable Green. Quote is from Deja Views 12x12 Vellum "Be Real" and is mounted onto a scrap of (unknown) DP and then onto Garden Green. Scallops are made using decorative scissors, Cuttlebugged dotted Garden Green is next layer and then there is a strip of DP from The Paper Studios- Trick or Treat Circles as well as Garden Green and the same unknown DP scalloped (scissors). "Always" is from Small Script stamped in Garden Green.

Hopefully I'll have a chance to stamp after church tomorrow so I can catch up with Sara! AND I have Beate's sketch to work on too. I better get busy!

Cool Stuff

I am going to add a new feature in my sidebar called "Cool Stuff". It will be sites that I would normally add to my favorites on my computer so I remember to go back and look at them later... websites I find intriguing or special.
Did I just make a short explanation long or what?
Anyway.... the first one is a site I came across today called Sky Blue Pink. This site is COOL! They refer to themselves as "The Land of Cool Collage Stuff" and boy, are they! Watch parts, stamps, neat envelopes, game pieces, fibers, charms, books, playing cards.... you name it. Their prices look very reasonable (I wish I weren't on a spending freeze!) and they even offer gift wrapping and secret sister shipping. (How I wish I had a secret sister.) They have lots of one-0f-a-kind items so I am sure their inventory is ever-changing. If you are looking for collage materials, doo-dads or just plain cool stuff, check 'em out!

BOO!

I've already told you that I am not a huge Halloween fan. But, boy am I having fun playing with my new papers and ribbons. I discovered that I did indeed own one more Halloween stamp and it had never seen ink so I decided to use it for this weeks Splitcoast Sketch Challenge. I added the Crystal Effects to the pumpkin last night after everything else was done. It BLED! I couldn't believe it when I woke up this morning and discovered that.. Lesson learned. Otherwise I am happy with the card.

Details, details- Card base is Paper Trey White, DP is Halloween Stripes from The Paper Studio; Other paper: Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie and Basic Black CS. Stamps: Say it Simply, All Year Cheer 3 and Looks like Spring (Argyle). Accessories used: Screwhead brads; Word Window, 1 1/4" Circle, and Designer Label Punches as well as SU cutter kit and DECKLE SCISSORS Dusted off!); Palette Noir black and Pumpkin Pie ink and unknown ribbons.

I have a doctor's appointment this morning and then I must get ready to go to the commissary (military grocery store). For me this means planning a menu, making a grocery list and clipping and organizing coupons- a bit of a chore, but saves me lots of money in the long run and since I am not employed that is a must! BUT, if I have time I would love to participate in the other 2 challenges for this week: a pocket card and a limited supply Sympathy card! We'll see how that goes.
Tomorrow's plans? CHRIS TOMLIN is coming to town and our church is sponsoring the free event. DD and I are working one of the sales booths and hubby is helping tear down the stage. Should be fun! I'll try to check back in!

Oh, I know that was a corny title. Sorry. :-)

Yesterday's Splitcoast Color Challenge was to use Groovy Guava and Always Artichoke. I'm really starting to like doing challenges as you can probably tell. They give me a starting point for my projects and then my creative juices kick in (sometimes). I think this was one of those times as I am pretty pleased with the outcome here.

As always, you can skip the small print and not miss anything if you're unconcerned with the 4-1-1.

Details, details- Card base is Groovy Guava stamped with lg flower from Autumn Leaves Flowers Stamps by Rhonna Farrer and small daisy from Priceless (SU) in Kraft White. Quote is from a vellum 12x12 sheet by Deja Views first mounted on a Basic Grey DP and then onto Always Artichoke and then onto Vanilla with aged copper brads. Vanilla is punched with SU Spiral tab punch. Another flower from same AL set is stamped in Basic Brown onto Basic Grey (Blush) DP and mounted with dimensionals. I used an age copper brad and a washer from hubby's tool chest. I toyed with the idea of ribbon for the stem, but instead crinkled up a piece of Always Artichoke (spritzing it with water first and then ironing it for a crisp look) for the stem and hand cut leaf.

I got an early start today since I have a ton to do. Hopefully I will have more time to check out today's challenge on Splitcoast.
